Lascelles bid rejected

Hello folks, letting you know what's going on from our perspective.
He's fast, strong, composed on the ball. If you could compare him to a player (not quality wise, but play style) it would be Vincent Kompany. The more pressure that gets put on a back four the better he becomes and the more he grows as a player, he's been playing alongside Danny 'Calamity' Collins the past few months of the season and still looked good, and that's pretty hard because he's the worst defender positionally to ever grace the professional game and I couldn't count of twenty hands the amount of times Lascelles bailed him out. His family are all basket ball players or have a history in basket ball, that shows you the sort of physicality you are getting with him.
Everybody that's seen him play do believe that he will go onto play for England, including myself. In a few years yet though, he still has a lot to learn, picked up a lot of bookings last year but to say that was his first season that's impressive. It's also impressive that a youngster broke into a Billy Davies side, he is renown for not playing young players, and he almost forced his way into the side literally. With a fully fit Forest back four he still wouldn't be first choice for me, we have Kelvin Wilson & Jack Hobbs ahead of him yet. It's a 50/50 split though, some would put him first choice some wouldn't.
Your bid of £4million was never going to get accepted, we have a chairman that cares about youth development and youth care, we have a manager who cares about youth development and youth care, and all of our coaching staff have the same thought process. We rejected a £5million bid when he was 17 and didn't kick a football as a first-team player, now he is a developed first-team player and could be a good asset to any Premier League team, but he's one for the future. Essentially, only a stupid offer would make us sell. Especially with interest from Man City, Liverpool & Spurs looming, he won't leave us for less than £8million. We aren't looking to sell our best young players.
I will bet my house this kid will go onto play for England, he's the best prospect to come out of the Forest academy for as long as I can remember.Last edited by NFFC fan; 04-07-2014, 01:51 PM.

If a bid of at least over £8million is made then I doubt it would be considered. Even then - it might not be accepted. Stuart Pearce has insisted he is here to build a side not dismantle one, and we have the financial backing from the Kuwaiti's that would not force us to sell. If you won't go above £5million then you won't get him, especially with interest from Man City, Liverpool & Spurs looming.

Great post NFFC, it must be difficult to see your best players being linked with a move away. If so called bigger clubs come in for him there ain't much hope of him coming our way for any sort of fee. On a lighter note seeing as Bobby Zamora gave you Forest fans a whole lot of joy in May any chance of you lot pointing him in our directionI blew a lot on vodka and tonic, gambling and fags. Looking back, I think I overdid it on the tonic. - The one and only Stanley Bowles
