  • Slightly worried (if the rumours are true)

I'm slightly worried that the board are interfering in transfers. It's hugely important the manager brings in the players he wants, as long as it fits in with his budget.

The latest news that our board have changed the terms of the Rio deal at the 11th hour is worrying and yet again shows the **** poor negotiating skills of Mr Beard!

TF needs to wake up and sack the clown, not restrict Harry in the transfer market. We should be offering players a deal once and once only. If they don't like it (within reason), move on. The one thing we can't do is agree a deal with the player and then move the goalposts, this smacks of being unprofessional and will put off players in the future.

Quite frankly, Beard's messed up yet again. The man is a million miles out of his depth and should be replaced with someone up to the job.

I understand TF being wary bringing in players after the Hughes disaster but you have to trust your manager. It's up to Beard to agree contracts that suit the club and if a deal can't be made then that's fine but the rumours that TF doesn't want Rio, should never come into the reckoning, let the manager do his job.

Not sure I would trust Harry with the clubs money. If 80k a week is the figure Rio wants....its too much.

Problem is Matty Hughes was given carte blanche and it was a catastrophe.

Once bitten twice shy. If I were TF I'd be the bloke holding the rubber stamp, every single time with Harry as manager. Agree re Beard, our of depth. Another bad move.

I suspect TF is getting it and that means he is very weary of throwing good money after old timers. We've done that and it hasn't worked.

Harry wont play to a set of rules. he will go to the media and moan about whatever he can. I'd rather tony limit harry than give harry free-reign.

Beard is a bit useless but he is probably just following orders the same way gianni did under briatore.
Soldier: "im on reconnaissance sir.. im looking for our camouflage expert.. have you seen him?"
        Lovejoy: "No?!"
Soldier: "GOD DAMNIT THAT GUYS GOOD!"

It's all down to Beard though, not Harry.

The manager simply provides targets and it's Beard's job to sound them out about a move and then complete the deal, which is my original point. If Rio wants to much money then don't do the deal, that's good business.

However, not doing the deal because the chairman doesn't fancy the player is very bad, as is, changing the offer at the 11th hour.

As long as redknapp is told who he can't buy not who to buy I can't see the issue

I would be more than slightly worried if the board wasn't interfering in Harry's purchasing preferences right now. He is no saint, in fact Hughes seemed much more saintly when he took over and look where his free reign got us at the end. TF and Co, please control the purse string and have your say/veto by all means!!
Banning people is no longer my hobby,
but take a look at my photo blog:

Madness to pay Rio £60K a week. Given his fitness and age he ought be on a pay when play basis (or whatever it's called)

I can't believe this is still an issue. This should have been ironed out at the planning stage, 2/3 wks ago.
All sounds a bit of a shambles. Nothing new though.

We all know that Rio isn't the same as half of Hughes signings though. Harry has gone down the road of 'you know what you're getting' when making his signings, which is the opposite of Hughes.

I agree Rio shouldn't be on such a high wage but once again, that all comes down to one fool, Beard!

Would anybody care to explain what poor old Phil Beard has done this time?
Seems to me that some can't wait to blame him whilst knowing absolutely nothing about how the club go about their business. If there were any truth in this rumour at all, the one certainty is that it definitely was not Phil Beard who decided upon it.

                        Unbelievable!!

I can't prove this but I'm convinced TF never wanted Rio. Just going on everything he's said since the 90th minute.

I think he's smart enough to have learned and I am convinced his is the last word these days. Let's be honest, he got properly bent over by just about every shark out there first time around. It wont happen again and the price of that maybe missing out on a few.

Stinks of the club pandering to the fans and getting worried about the fall out if they sign what is deemed an aging player

Its quiet simple we should have a budget and Harry should be told thats it no more so if you want to blow most of it on one player dont come back asking for more or complaining cut your cloth accordingly.

I think we tend to have a policy of signing players rather then working within a framework
