Other then last season does he have terrible injury record?? Was it even that bad last season?? Is his record any worse then Faurlin??

I think there are a few false views about Rio to fit agendas.

If we should not be considering giving rio contract due to injury record we certainly should not have offered one to Faurlin

Not picked by David Moyes was my understanding.

That's what I read too. New manager wanted to make a point by taking out a big name. Also tried it with RVP who downed tools.

So would you say the reports about Rio's injuries over the years are over the top, and the reality is that there are no questions about his fitness?

If you Google "Rio Ferdinand back injury" you'll find plenty of reports on the subject.

Show me a player that is not playing with some form of injury. Question is has his back injury stopped him playing???

How many of the games missed last season were due to injury rather then the manager just choosing not to pick. I have no idea how bad his back is that's job of an medical he takes to identify but has he played more games last two seasons then jack Wiltshire who is young and fit??

Ok, you've made your point. Rio has no back problems and is capable of putting in a huge shift this season. I accept your suggestion that all the reports about his back injury over the years are just malicious gossip.

I also accept your suggestion that Rio was dropped because Moyes didn't like him and that it had nothing to do with his alleged bad back.

After your endorsement I'm expecting at least 25-30 games from the lad if he signs. After all, he's just had most of last season off so should be fit and raring to go.

Now that response has made you look a bit of a child rich. I have not endorsed anything just given an alternative view nor did I say he does not have back problem or that it's gossip

You don't rate him for whatever reason which is cool but your a better poster then that above mate as that's poor

We will have to agree to disagree on the matter mate. I'm just fed up with the club signing players that are well past their prime. We used to be a club that bought potential and developed it. I know the game's changed, but I'd prefer us going down the Southampton route than what we did over the last few seasons.

Richard bore off same toilet you said last week in another thread about rio. Relax made your points. Like a broken record slating the guy. His signing whether you like it or not. First mistake he makes you're probably be booing him. Massive humble pie coming your way I think and hope.

I see Mr Starstruck is back. I know you're a sucker for a big name but we're not all made the same. I'd rather have someone who can play long term for us than someone well past their prime. It doesn't seem the best way to advance the club IMO.

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has lifted the lid on the ‘dark days’ that he endured when he feared that injuries might cut short his Old Trafford career.

                            Total appearances since 2008

                            2008–09 43
                            2009–10 21
                            2010–11 29
                            2011–12 38
                            2012–13 34
It was another successful campaign for Rio Ferdinand: at 34-years-old, he made more appearances than any other Manchester United central-defender while he was also named into the PFA Team of the Year.

                            2013–14 23

This is his total number of appearances.

Would be very happy with his average, which is 20 to 30 games. Blokes a master of defending. This place never ceases to amaze me.

Micha Richards would've been a good signing a few seasons ago but wages and injuries are a concern..... might be able to do something about wages but we'll never be able to sought out the fact that he's injury prone!

IMO stay clear, no point signing someone if they're not going to give us game time!
                                SIR LESLIE FERDINAND!!
