Pulls out a few world class saves in our last season in the premier league, and people immediately forget how inept he was at commanding his area, collecting crosses and avoiding basic mistakes. Yes he put in some good performances, arsenal away springs to mind, but for every world class save there was a couple of costly mistakes.

Originally posted by Del View PostPersonally i rate Cesar and feel some of the stick he got was out of order. Some fans blamed him for a West Ham goal that was deflected past him a yard in front of him after he had it covered until then, which was ridiculous. Also, loads blame the Villa goal on him ignoring the fact the defence should've dealt with it but get no slating. People say he should've claimed it but at no point did the ball go beyond the defenders who started around the penalty spot and retreated to the 6 yard line.. to try and get the ball he'd have had to jump through players which would've been a lottery. Anyway this was done to death in a similar thread not long ago.
Put it this way, we only signed Cesar becasue Green started the prem season in shocking fashion gifting Swansea their first goal totally against the run of play with their first attempt. It set the tone for what followed. He has also made more shocking clangers in a QPR shirt that Cesar..... was it West Brom he watched it drop and fluffed it into the net..?
Yes Green has played well this last season, and fair play to him, but he's played with less pressure. I think he struggles with pressure personally, hence more likelyu to drop a clanger than Cesar.
Either way, i'll support whoever plays between the sticks.

Think the morale to this story is that we have two very decent keepers who are both capable of keeping goal for us in the prem. I don't think there is an awful lot between them myself and if someone put a gun to my head I would say Cesar is the better keeper marginally simply because I think Green has more errors in him but equally I would keep Green and shift Cesar if we could because I think he has earned the no1 spot
I never get the comments on keepers not being able to command their box and to me that's all BS. A keeper can only command his box if he has defenders in front of him who are prepared to listen to his calls and not go wandering. A keeper can call out the danger etc for 90mins but if the defence don't take the advise and then it ends in chances or goals why is that the keepers fault for not commanding??? only thing keeper can do to command is come and take crosses cleanly time and time again something I think both Green and Cesar are poor atLast edited by West Acton; 30-06-2014, 06:19 PM.

At the end of the day the facts are they both have made mistakes, and both will make mistakes. They are good keepers who both have their strengths, but neither are great keepers as have weaknesses.

Hang on, ability totally to one side, would people actually be happy to bomb off Green after this season and play Cesar instead? Bearing in mind near on every fan agreed that we need ot keep some unity from our promotion winning side, considering how we went about the PL last time?!You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
