  • Hail Cesar: How a QPR reserve saved Brazil

Julio Cesar the hero of Brazil after penalty heroics

By David Ornstein - BBC Sport in Belo Horizonte

There were pivotal twists and dramatic turns, moments of boundless ecstasy and crushing agony, tears of frenzied joy and unthinkable despair - but in the end, it came down to the work of a man who could not get a game in the second tier of English football last season...

    Best keeper at QPR IMO.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Im not sure I trust what Cesar says as I saw an article yesterday from him were he said he was frozen out at QPR and had to train in a park on his own to keep his skills up

Well I seem to recall Harry saying many times he is a top keeper is training and keeping his head down and not causing him any problems. If he was training in the park on his own surely he would not have been chosen to play in the FA Cup last season.

Good - let him keep playing well & bump his price up and get shot with a few quid to show for it. Might even begin to recoup some of the millions we paid for him to rot in the reserves last year.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Best shot stopper, flaps at crosses and doesn't command the area as well as green imho.

After the game crying saying he's so happy as only his family & team mates know what he's been through. Thinly veiled dig at QPR again?

Can't wait to get shot of this geezer personally. Good keeper not great.

I still think Cesar is the best keeper we've got but Green's performances last season deserve to be rewarded. Green deserves a new contract and to keep his starting spot - for now.
It's easy to remember the mistakes a keeper makes rather than the heroics. Cesar's blunders against Villa and West Ham stick in most QPR fans minds but they forget just how good he was against Chelsea (both games), Arsenal and Tottenham. As for his wages, well that's the owners of the club's fault because they were the ones that offered him the deal despite us already having Green. If someone was to offer you 60,000 a week then no one is going to turn it down. Money speaks

It wasn't a dig at QPR. After Brazil went out of the 2010 World Cup, Cesar and Felipe Melo got hammered in the Brazilian press - that's what he was bringing up in his interview.

Ah what short memories we all have. Poor at commanding an area. Green better all round

I'd go to the fûčkîñg park on me own for 100 odd thousand a week!

I'd have him starting... Only at QPR you'd have a better keeper sitting on the bench.

Where does it say he's on 100k a week, something official not paper talk?
