We wouldn't be Premier league now if he had played at Wembley.
Question for those that love him so much....If he's so good why no other team in the world would touch him?..(Toronto aside)

How can you make that statement?

If Green is so good why can't he get into the England squad?

Why didn't Ruddy get in the England squad...or Butland..or Stockdale?...or for that matter any other championship keeper

Plenty of clubs want wanted him but baulked at his wages. If we cant off load him seems crazy to continue to pay fortunes to two top keepers. Its tough on green but as his contact is up he wd be the one id let go.

Exactly... makes no sense at all, and I'm sure we've had championship players in the England squad before.

Green was being over paid as well and that's why he left West Ham. I'm sure Brazil's WC keeper is a championship keeper.

It sure is and I think his made up his mind signing Green again, just hope we can offload Cesar and get a good return.

But that's my point...if he was looked upon as that good clubs don't care about wages, well prem clubs anyway...We've just built a great spirit in the side, which is the most important thing
any team needs and you wanna just dump our best gk who now holds club records for this error prone overpaid disaster??

Green is just as "error prone" as Cesar. Cesar is better, end off - na, na, na, na, naa, na.

Am torn, tbh, between wanting that and wanting the mercenary to drop several clangers and embarrass himself and this wretched team......

Hopefully will be on a few more clubs radars after the penalty saves last night.

Personally cant wait to get rid of Cesar.

Cesar is a much better keeper then green, just a shame Harry didn't see that. Yes green had a good season for us last year, but had cesar played more games I don't think there would be this argument

I knew that Cesar saving a penalty or 2 last night would start this whole debate up again.

For what it's worth here are my 2 pennies. Cesar is one of the best shot stoppers on the planet, no argument about that and we saw 1 or 2 examples of this during his time with QPR. Other areas of his games are hugely lacking though, in particular his ability to handle crosses and high balls. I've been doing some research on this, watching old Brazil footage and this is not a new development. Cesar has always been suspect under the high ball and has a tendancy to punch when a lot of keepers (particularly in the English game) would catch it. For me, having a keeper that is world class in terms of a shot stopping but is pony under a crossed ball is like having a Ferrari with no brakes........it might look good for a little while but at some point it's gonna go pear shaped!

Whilst Green isn't the shot stopper that Cesar is, in my opinion he's a better keeper all told. We should renew his contract and try to offload Cesar based on his heroics last night!

                                WRT keepers and crosses

Speaking very generally, foreign keepers tend to punch away crosses and British keepers at least attempt to catch them.

Both methods have their pros and cons.

Catching it is obviously preferable, but not always achievable if e.g. the keeper is pressured into fumbling and dropping it, in which instance it can be potentially more dangerous than punching it.

Punching it is therefore often preferable but only if it's punched into a safe area, so this method too carries its own risks if not well executed.

Cerny for example always felt more comfortable punching it away and generally speaking he was good it. It's also true to say that if Cesar has a weakness it's his sometime susceptibility at crosses. However it could be argued that he compensates for that by being one of the best shot-stoppers on the planet. Green however, is generally better on crosses, but to then conclude this makes him a better overall keeper than Cesar I would definitely say is open to debate.

Saying all that, this entire debate is fairly moot if in fact Green has been given a new contract, which I dont actually know if he has or not, hence my question above.
