As others have said - charlie can make the step up but he needs the service - if we dont get the right people to provide for him he capable of 5 - 8 goals but with the right service i think he can get 12 - 15 all day long.

Can't see him hitting double figures if I am being honest. Doubt he will play for England either if you look at the players ahead of him. It's not that I don't rate Charlie as a good finisher at all the levels he has played at, just many more better centre forwards in the prem and if we are not creating chances he will struggle. I hope he does well though as deserves the chance.

So you expect relegation? I think it will be a struggle. We can't seem to be much of an attraction for the players this football club needs unless we offer stupid wages
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

Bloke gets in positions to score goals, and he will, injury permitting again this season. Coupled with his hold up play and workrate, a 10+ goal tally this season should see him involved with England
Hope he's more clinical in the Prem then he was against Derby then!

Anything other then relegation will be a bonus mate. At the moment (long way to go before the window shuts) our squad is no where near good enough to stay up IMO. If we bring in Rio, get a good prem standard keeper, somehow keep Remy, get Adel back and playing well, Sign a good CM then I would be a lot more optimistic Not asking much is it!

Suppose we should learn from last experience of expecting to much from our stand out player and expecting him to be the difference. If we make the same mistake we did with Adel assuming Austin will score us out of trouble we will be in trouble. I think he will score but we need to get others chipping in as we won't get away with just him scoring like we did season gone

Replace toilet with a decent winger. Get another striker to help out and I think charlie could get us at least 15 goals. As for playing for England he couldn't do much worst then the strikers that play at the moment.

This is why when promotion was far from certain some people were saying that staying put would not have been the end of the world. Harry wouldn't have stayed, and the rebuild would have started. Instead, if we're being really honest, apart from Ned and maybe a couple of others at the most, we have a squad which simply isn't fit for purpose ie EPL standard.

In other words if we do get relegated, we will have lost a years worth of development time. The smart thing would be to focus on long term anyway, regardless of being in the EPL. That's why what we really need is Harry's successor working in tandem with him now....... Paul Clement?

i think charlie will do ok but the big worry for me is that shoulder injurie, i reckon he might suffer with that again!

Like any injury Con don't think he would be at anymore danger then someone with another injury

I reckon he will be better than Ali Dia was at Soton

Yeah pretty much agree with this.

Austin's control is pretty ropey, look at how the ball always balloons up in the air when it's played into his feet and he has his back to goal. PL defenders will nip in and take it off him all day long.

His finishing is excellent though, and that won't change too much in the division above. Just depends on service (which we won't be able to give him much of) and confidence. Let's hope for a few tap ins to get him going at the start of the season.

I think he's a million miles off England and I'd be extremely surprised if he gets anywhere near that level. Hope I'm proved wrong

Some very optimistic posts on here. There have been loads of strikers who have torn the Championship apart but can't score for toffee in the Prem. And without a single Prem class midfield player on our books - Barton and Phillips wd be OK squad players in a lower half team - its questionable how much service he will get. If we sign good players he cd of course be made to look a better player.

You are not that big a fan of joeys are you mate? I don't think hes ever not been first choice for any team hes played for in the prem has he?
I would bet a pound with anyone he will start every single game for us next season if he is fit too. And wouldnt be surprised if hes the first name on the team sheet and captain.
