  • Getting worried that we have not yet signed anyone?

Is it just me or is anyone else worried about us not having signed anyone (new) yet?

The last time we were promoted to the premier league everyone was talking about the importance of doing deals early so you have time to integrate the new players into the squad and tactics. Basically more time to gel before the new season start. I do understand that our "new transfer policy" includes Harry not speaking about our transfer targets (like he normally would) before they actually sign a contract but the fact of the matter is that we have not yet strengthened our squad. Did they actually spent 1 month to get Hill to sign a 1 year deal?

Anyway I would have thought us to have signed at least a couple of new players by now...........but what do you say?

PS. This is in no way a "moaning" thread - I do have faith but I am getting a bit worried that perhaps Harry and our owners might not agree on the transfer policy/targets?

Bit of a balancing act really I think. We need to get players in early enough to integrate them into a team but as soon as theyre in we have to pay them Premiership wages so the club probably dont want to pay them for what is effectively a month's holiday!

I hope there's a lot of work going on to get things lined up.......I Hope!!
2011-2013, 2 seasons in the Premiership, 76 games, 14 wins........two years of my life I'll never get back!!

2013/2014 mediocrity topped off with a win at Wembley....

2014/2015 was pretty much the same as 2011-2013.....

    2015/2016, average at best.....

    2016/2017, same old, same old....

    2017/2018, aim low, avoid disappointment!

Its the hope that kills you!

The transfer window doesn't open until July 1st. Until then we can sign free agents, but most of them are free for a reason.........

We can also do some negotiating behind the scenes but we wouldn't want to announce that, would we?

I'm not concerned in the slightest.....yet.

Yes that would be the easy answers - "it is always like this" and "World Cup" but is it really as simple as that? Both Manchester Clubs have signed players this week and many other teams in the league have signed players up until now.
I hope you are right about "a lot of things lined up" but I only sense us going after a couple of "over the hill" experienced players.

About the deadline......you can sign players now but the deal cannot materialise before July 1st.

I think its not a case of when we get the players in but more imprtantly WHO? no point in rushing deals or bringing in the wrong type. I also believe we are being more prudent now which prpb means we are not giving in so easily to wages and transfer demands.

As long as we can bring in the right type in the next 3 or 4 weeks thats still plenty of time for players to get to know each other ect...

No need to panic just yet. They can't do much "gelling" until pre-season starts.

Although it would be nice to have things sorted prior to our first game and not be looking for vital additions throughout August.

They could all gel on each others family holidays or round each others mansions watching the world cup eh.

The last time we were promoted, we didn't sign anybody until Tony arrived as far as I recall.

Maybe the board have decided to not spend anything and get back the money they have lost so far.

Exactly which is why it is important this time around not to do the same......we all remember our 0-4 at home to Bolton. We were not ready for Premier League football back then. The year after we were more ready but did not have the right attitude - we thought we had won the 1st match even before it started........and we all remember how that went at home to Michu and Co.

I am not saying our team should gel while they are on holiday....come on people get serious
I do think though that it would have been nice with a few new players ready when the players are back in training next week - but apparently I am the only one :D
