  • If Rio and Haangaland sign....

Then 4 of our 5 centre backs will be well into their 30s.

A 1 year deal, if that is what it is, for Rio isn't going to cripple us but surely his injury record is a concern.

For me it tells you something when HR wants to sign another centre half, as well as bringing in someone like Rio. Clearly HR has concerns as to whether Rio has the legs to last a full season or whether the niggling injuries he has had the past 3 or 4 years will continue to blight him.

If these signings go ahead then I'm afraid our board have learned nothing.

I wouldn't worry about it Dave, we've been assured by several fans on here that Rio's injuries are nothing to worry about, he's still world-class and still good enough for a top six team. As for Hangeland, never mind youth, we must pack the defence with experience.

I'm astonished that none of these top six clubs have come in for Rio. We must be getting bargain of the century for a world-class player, and on relatively cheap wages if Stanley 76 is correct. But even if we pay him 80k a week, surely he's worth it? Being injury-free and world-class should mean we'll get a good 25-30 games out of him at least.

Man U must be mental letting him go, and so must the managers of these top six clubs who obviously can't spot world class talent going free. Clearly, the likes of Mourinho Wenger Pellegrini and Rogers are clueless.....
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

If we sign both Rio and Hangaland that'll be the end of Hill and Dunne. Neds a definite starter and I presume Rio would also start (when fit). That leaves Hangaland, Hill and Dunne as back up.... I just can't see Hill or Dunne getting a very much deserved game.

Just don't want to see one of our legends forgotten on the bench. Is he doing any coaching badges?

If we do bring in haangeland on the reported 50k a week then the club will deserve every penny of the F.f.p fine given to them as will be showing a total disregard for the rules. Would also prove that T.F is full of hot air in saying we are targetting young hungry players when we are clearly going down the same old route of signing old players on big £. Laughing stock yet again if we do.

hangeland isn't a signing i'm that enthusiastic about - he was central to a defence who conceeded 80-odd goals last season. I genuinely think he already peaked a few years ago. I'd rather a seasoned pro like Rio than Hangeland.
Soldier: "im on reconnaissance sir.. im looking for our camouflage expert.. have you seen him?"
                  Lovejoy: "No?!"
Soldier: "GOD DAMNIT THAT GUYS GOOD!"

Rio wouldnt get game time at a top 6 club, reports say he has turned down big money overseas to play games in the top flight for us. We are not top 6 material, and every club around us would love to have Rio in and around the team.

Exactly that jeems, take Burnley/Leicester as an example - they would no doubt love to have a pro like Rio sign for them.

If we sign Rio as seems likely, I see no reason why Hangeland is needed.

Rio/Ned with Hill/Dunne backup. Dont need to go overkill in the old centre back department.

Rio with a young up and coming centre half who can learn from the older pro wd be a sharp move - but two old centre halves in the modern game wd get done for pace and wd prove that Harry's old boy club has won over Tony's desire for players with sell on value. IF - and it still is a big "if" - we sign Hangerland too then indeed it wd prove we have learned very little and even many fans wd struggle to feel much sympathy for the manager/ board because a team built around aged mercenaries like Hangerland would deserve to go down.

the only reason i can see hangleland signed is because harry doesnt have the confidence rio will play the 38 games. I also believe harry will bring in another young cb like caulker - my concern here is where does he see ned in his plans.
