It is merely answering a question that was asked, he hasn't exactly gone on a rant about England and is really just digging out players that can't be bothered. No secrets and no digs at the FA really. Just a bit of a soundbite about something that's hardly a secret now is it?
He brings the subject up while talking about something else - too many foreigners at youth level in the Prem as it happens.

It may not have anything to do with the fact he missed out on the England job for Roy, and he may not be interested in the job if Roy moved on, but this kind of interview is exactly the kind of thing he would be saying if he did want it, pointing out the attitudes of players towards the national team, and how they should change.

Wouldn't it be lovely to hear him talking about QPR's plans for next year though....

Don't think it could have been Parker, mate. After all, a year ago he went to incredible lengths in his desperation to force his way into the England team.

I couldn't blame the spurs players for trying to avoid playing for England. Pointless international fixtures get in the way of an otherwise important season. Players commitment should be to their employers not their national team

I'd imagine players would be more inclined to want to play if England caps weren't given out so readily. How many of the current squad have really earnt and proven their places as internationals?

Graham Taylor has come out now and backed HRs comments.

Arry is probably just bitter he didn't get the job instead of Woy… He hasn't managed any players who would turn down an England cap

He needs to focus on QPR and keep his mouth shut, but he's never done that so I doubt he'll start now

                      Redknapps comments on eng players

He said today that some spurs players come to him about not playing for England because of the a embarrssing moments they have to deal with etc

Only spurs English players when he was there was crouch Defoe Lennon can't think of any one else but I thought when them three in particular played ok for England

What my question is how many other managers do u think May come out about the same sort of thing

Do you think redknapp will reveal he kept bobby back when old Roy asked about availability? Lol

Ian Wright's take on this. As sensible and well reasoned as with everything else he says...

I reckon HR has done it on purpose to take the pressure of the England players in Brazil who are an embarrassment.
By saying what he has the story is about unnamed spurs players none of whom appear to be in Brazil, resulting in Gerrard rather than crying for forgiveness on national Tv can now instead play the I'm rubbish but at least I'm loyal card.
HR and Jamie are on great terms with many of the England players and a story like this is a red herring IMHO to protect them in days of turmoil, if it was such a big story did HR put it in his book?

Footballers are no different to us ordinary workers, they are paid to do a job.

And playing for England is the equivalent of working overtime for a tiny fraction of your hourly wage of your day job.

And all this rubbish about playing for the pride of your country is exactly that, rubbish.Got no pride in my country whatsoever thanks to Blair turning it into the United Nations of ponces and spongers.

Redknapp said that one player said he didn't want to play because his 'girlfriend' (not wife) was having a baby.... how many England internationals playing for spurs when HR was there had baby's?? And who were they??

England players get around £10,000 appearance fee for international games, and it all goes to charities, Cancer Research and Help for Heroes among them.
