at Arsenal he won't
historically they don't pay huge wages, so if we both are after him, the idea of playing every week, could influence him, rather than warming the bench fairly regularly

This is the type of player that would improve our team, 10 fold! Loves the dirty side of the game and is very, very good at it. A good age, wealth of experience and would be a massive coup for the club. Also, with such huge money now being brought into the club, he's one of the two, possibly three players, I'd make one of our high earners, a marquee signing if you like (a proper one at that, not Ji Sung Park!)

He will be a starter at arsenal and exactly the type of hard nut they missed this year.I played sunday league football today.
Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.
I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.
We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

I dont think he is an Arsenal-type player to be honest. Clearly a player they have needed for ages but Wenger is stubborn about their style and players that fit that. Can see them going for a more ball playing defensive midfielder than De Jong.
Would be absolutely fantastic signing for us.Last edited by Shepherds Mush; 10-06-2014, 11:52 AM.

Would be a great signing, but very unlikely.
As for Arsenal, definitely no guarantee he'd play week in week out as they have Flamini, Arteta, Wilshire, Ramsey, Diaby, Ozil, Corzola, Risicky..... All of whome could be used in varying deeper midfield position if playing 433.

If he goes there, he will be their new Viera and a regular in the side ahead of Flamini and Arteta, who both filled that role last season.

Arteta has played in the deep holding role but not really excelled there. I think Ramsey has shown he is far more useful in an attacking role and Wilshere is not really a holding midfielder either, although he could fulfil the role if he wanted to (whether he tays fit is anothyer issue).
So really the only one who can probably play that role is Flamini, but de Jong would be a better option for them.
