Let's get the facts straight here please - Hill did not say he was past it. He said he was no longer able to hack it in the Premier league at full back. So possibly, just for a change, personal ego's are ruling posts here and the attempts on both sides to score points rather than engage in adult debate are really lame.
I'm sure Clint can still do a job in the centre, but for me now it would be as cover rather than a 90 minute, week in week out performer. He will still be a valuable dressing room asset and should be made Club captain now rather than team captain with a view to getting his badges sorted and move into coaching, then management

I remember that. Clint's referring to playing LB not CB in the PL. He said it after playing West Brom away. I've praised Clint many times for his subbing himself against Wigan and Derby. Check the threads (what a thought). I've forgotten nothing, pal. Anybody who can call Clint a liability these past four years is both a fool and an idiot.

There is a difference between attacking a loyal club servant who has been fantastic for us (which obviously wd be completely wrong) and questioning whether he adds much going forward. The former wd be completely unfair, the latter wd be perfectly legitimate imho. I too wd keep him for his potential as a squad player and potential coach for all the reasons expressed in his favour but some fans can be a bit sentimental in expecting clubs to keep on favourite sons for past deeds rather than what they are contributing now. To be hard headed about it Clint - though probably well down the high earners list - is probably earning a very tidy salary and any well run business wd need to look at what they are getting for the investment.
