Redknapp may be on Rav price mission

Harry Redknapp rarely does anything without a reason!

Love him or hate him, he is a master of the media and thus we need to look quite carefully at the words and possible reasons behind his surprise comments on Ravel Morrison in the Metro.

They came very much out of left field and explain what most of us know, that a very gifted footballer needs to focus and should he do so the future is fantastic for him.”

However, Harry adds rather untypically “If he doesn’t, it’s going to be a waste of talent.”

The QPR boss goes on to explain that he hasn’t had a minute’s trouble with the midfielder and that he’s a “great boy.”

All very interesting and full of mixed messages but the big question is why Harry needed to say any of this and I think there’s a pretty straightforward answer – it’s all about the dough!

That Rav isn’t necessarily perhaps always the most focused is well known, that he’s had his problems at Manchester United and West Ham is old history.

Redknapp, however, claims to have had no off the pitch behavioural problems but has concerns about his consistency levels.

It’s all very clever and probably aimed at picking up a major player at a cut price! My view is the Irons are being flushed out on a price!

Of course it may be that Harry was in holiday mode and talking off the cuff but that’s not the crafty old fox usually works – as we say there’s usually a reason!

My view is a bid will probably come from the Loftus Road club but that it’s more likely to be around £3m-£4m than the £8 million that’s been suggested the Irons would want.

If that turns out to be the case expect many ‘embarrassment clauses’ to be included in the deal by the Hammers including appearances, finishing league position, goals, England caps and much else.

He only has a year left on his contract from what I understand, so we have him on loan for another year and then get him for basically nothing.

Swansea have been rumored to be after him a while. I'd get in there now and sign him up. Young and temperamental might go missing on occasions but again can be a match winner on his day.

Morrison is undeniably a player of huge potential,Ferguson said hes the most talented young footballer hes ever seen at Man U.If Arry can get him focused on football and forget his off field activities he is a nailed on England International regular of the future.
I was expecting Morrison to have a bigger impact in our play off games but other than an ineffective bit part at the DW Stadium he didn't show up,it was rumoured that he had a thigh strain and that Arry promised him at least 20mins at Wembley but the sending off put paid to that.
When I consider how important his goals were to even get us into a play off place then having "even" a slim chance of signing him would be a no brainer even at £10M

Very quick, skillful, agile and has an eye for a pass and scores goals which is unique for a centre mid/attacking midfielder. Can't help but think if he went on loan to a prem club instead of us he'd have tried to be a bit more consistent and gotten onto that plane to brazil.

I like the idea of Barton and Ale in midfield, with Traore Morrison and Phillips ahead, and Charlie up front in a 4-2-3-1.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Has the ability but also a bit of a loose cannon.

Hopefully that can be ironed out of him or he could be Adel Mk 2.

Yep. Ravel needs senior players who can set an example keep him on the straight and focus his 'passion' on football rather than bright lights. Not someone like Adel who tumbles into training, bored, yawning and belligerent after another 5am session in the casino.
