The lads a talent - aint surprised he hates it Russia. Love being linked with these type of players but just don't think this is the way to go this year. However contradicting myself a bit if we brought in 1 foreigner of the ability of m villa it would improve us massively in the middle of the park.
As long as most of our signings are British a one off signing like this would still be a massive coup and I don't think spirit would be effected at all.

If you was offered a job say in Dubai for 100k a year, would you stay in England for 30k a year? Being a footballer is a job to these people like you and I have to work, I know I would always go who was offereing me the most money in any career choice I make. Don't forget these players stop playing in their mid/late thirties so why wouldn't you spend a year chasing the money to better your life?
People on here seem to think footballers are motivated by the love of the club or to impress the fans or whatever. It's just not the case.
Hill and Derry both ditched Palace to join a club that paid them more £££. Mackie left Plymouth too.
There's a huge double standard on here, generally biased against foreign players. Cesar the dirty mercenary, Green (who won the playoffs with WHU then ditched them for moneybags QPR) the honest pro.
For Cesar to have ripped up his contract and become a free agent last summer or in Jan, as many seemed to want him to do, would have effectively cost him around ~£6m, minus the value of whatever new deal he could sign (considerably less than what he was on with us).
Would you really effectively pay £6m to play in the World Cup? I might. Maybe you would too. But let's not pretend it's a no-brainer, or that people who chose not to are immoral.

think that ship might have sailed tbh.
but the talk about money and mercenaries, every player wants max wages, every player wants to play for the biggest club they can, if City/Arsenal/Barcelona come in for any of your favourite players they will go 99.999% of the time, it is just the way of the world.the only thing you can realistically demand of a player is 100% committment, effort, and dedication. Got a lot of that this season, hardly any the previous season,a big change.

If the club wants to splash cash it's the clubs fault not the players for accepting.
If we would have gone down this season everyone would be screaming that the players lacked commitment, effort and dedication regardless if they had any or not.

How about Remy. He only came for the money. I think M'Villa would be good signing. Might still be the "right sort" even though he chose Russia. I wouldn't like to prejudge him just on that. If he wants to play for us and has a good attitude and gives their all on the pitch they're welcome. Look at M'Bia, a few here was slating him but I think he always gave everything in each game and now he's shown that with Sevilla.

Mercenaries didn't bring us down. The team did, that includes everyone.
