Here is some information on release clauses (buy out clauses only seem to be in Spain). Release clauses are generally only under certain circumstances and I believe that on this occasion it was if the Club was in the Championship. This is no longer the case. All of the reports are stating that Remy has agreed terms with Arsenal. There is nothing about QPR having agreed to any transfer. I think this transfer could become very complicated.
      I think you have point

if there is no release clause, we're being mugged off at £10 million (if that is the fee)

        lots of if's here

no one really seems to know

I hope that any contracts for new players don't have release clauses in them. If we unearth a gem or two, I wouldn't want them waltzing off for pennies.

I also hope wages will be linked to whatever division we're in.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

            Why do you believe that?

"It is a clause in a player’s contract that, subject to qualifying conditions (i.e. a particular transfer window or non-participation in the Champions League), automatically requires a club to accept an offer of a pre-determined contractual amount expressly set out in the contract from the offering club. If the minimum amount stipulated in the contract is triggered by a the purchasing club, the player will be entitled to speak to that club."

When he signed for us a qualifying condition would hardly have been for this transfer window (after he has been with the club for 18 months) and the only other condition as far as I can see would have been if we were not in the Premiership.

Works both ways we cannot expect a player to sign a contract which says his wages drop if we get relegated if we don't give him the option of getting away if we did drop for a set fee

It seems likely to me that he wanted a chance to prove himself in the Prem in that second half of the season, and if it went well, to be able to move on without QPR restricting him moving on by asking too high a price. Beyond a huge wage, why else would he have joined us over someone like Newcastle for example?

His personal situation is the thing that has drawn this out beyond the 6 months it was expected to last.

Reality is, we have absolutely no idea what is in the contract.

I don't know for sure, but Remy seems to be on the same wages and has a buyout clause. That's the kind of situation we need to avoid.

We were desperate at the time, and had a chance to bring in some real quality for the second half of the season.

I think we did what we needed to to get him in. You'd hope we don't need to do it again.

No we don't but when TF has already said in public that Remy has NO buy out clause i think i'd tend to believe him over the daily fail !!

Are you a q block peter davies fan too?
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

In a word - London. Lure of the location. That was the received wisdom, plus we were matching their salary offer if not bettering it.

Very possibly, I still think that he never intended to be a QPR player after those 6 months. And I think we'd have needed to have included a set fee for him to leave, to get him to sign.

His agent held all the cards in any negotiation that's for sure, and we shouldn't be surprised that any clause was not to our benefit.
