  • Hypothetical scenario here:

    Clause or no clause...

Would you welcome him back IF Harry and the board did a sterling job selling the club's ambitions to him, convincing him that his future lies with us and buying into the new team ethic?

    Comment

    • If there is a release clause then other clubs are still allowed to come in to outbid the club which triggered the release clause.

Suppose the risk is if he wants to go to the club that comes in first we're screwed.

Of course one of the best finishers in the league. He could be the difference between relegation and finishing around 15th.

It really is down to little things like that, cos you sometimes only get one chance in the big games and have to have the confidence and bottle to make them count.
Let's not forget Charles wasn't fully fit at the Wembley final and probably would have scored that chance if he had been.

He'd pulled a groin muscle in training earlier in the week and agreed to play with a pain killing injection as he was so determined not to miss out.

I don't think any of us would say no, in terms of his goal scoring ability I guess the biggest problem is the desire to have "the right sort of players". Whilst with Remy I don't think it's about attitude but given his clearly stated desire to play Champions League football, I doubt he fits the bill in terms of comments made by Fernandes in recent days or in terms of the sort of players Harry wants to fight for the Rangers cause, which is considerably different to battling it out in the CL.

Agreed Blue, but at the end of the day talk is pretty cheap in football. Just look at Barton's comments last summer as one example.

How unrealistic is the scenario I'm hypothesising if we really think about it?....

As Robbo says, he's one of the best finishers in the league, and he's already a QPR player.

Probably the most important factor - and who ever thought he would sign for us in the first place

Well last time he played for us we were battling relegation and he was our best player by miles.

I appreciate he wants to leave as frankly he's far too good to be battling against relegation, but anyone who says they wouldn't want him playing for us needs their head examined.

                      • and some of the posts on here seem to think we were doing him a favour by "offering him the chance to play in the PL and earn lots of money".

Nonsense. Before we got him Remy was already a regular French international, one of the top strikers in the French league, targeted by Arsenal and others.

He was doing us a favour - hence the release clause. Why on earth would he have joined a club at the bottom of the league in Jan?? Do you really think regular French internationals think "yeah I wouldn't mind seeing out my best years in the Championship, after all its more competitive and Bournemouth is a great little awayday"

You dont need to out bid a club you only need to meet the clause if there is one.

Nobody was willing to pay joeys wages though, plenty of champions league clubs are willing to. I think there is the difference between why one came back with his tail between his legs and knuckled down and the other one never will.

Just used what Barton said as an example of cheap talk. At the end of the day it's not totally unheard of for a player to change their mind - stranger things happen. So while I agree that's it's unlikely, I wouldn't rule it out completely.

But the question I was more interested in is as fans, would we welcome him back IF:
