Can't have two players with little pace between them in a two man midfield. We need someone next to Joey who can carry the ball and play box to box and can score the odd goal.

spoke to Barton at the kit launch....He rates Ale really highly and says he was not far off consideration for the playoff final

First year in the prem before his injury, for that half of the season his midfield stats for the type of player he is, ie defensive mid, eclipsed everyone in the division. Most tackles won, most interceptions, pass completion etc. It wasn't even close with similar types. If he can get his fitness back he is without question good enough for the prem. He breaks up opponents play and rarely loses possession when on the ball. I also like the fact he always looks to go forwards when passing to make things happen, not sideways and backwards just for the sake of it, allowing the opposition to get everyone behind the ball.

Each to their own del. Think he was a good player but not to the level that some proclaim. Those injuries will be very hard to overcome. Like ale and wish him all the best.

Agree with you bush. Pay as you play deal. Yes he's a great player, but only when he's fit and actually on the pitch. IMO it would be mad being tied to a player who is very very likely to get injured long term AGAIN.

Nice guy, but money wasted. Won't start a game.
