How will that affect us now specifically in making signings?

Wouldnt come into effect until jan transfer window as acounts dont have to be suppliued until sonething like dec 1st. So we got this window to do what we want but we must do most of our business now in case we do get stung by a massive fine or embargo.

Since we got promoted the FL cannot place a transfer embargo. However they could fine us if our losses for this year are over £8m.

Considering we sold Samba for £12.5m and our wage bill was about £400k-£500k less per week this year, these 2 points by it self adds up to £33m-40m less of a loss this year.

We also made no big signings but then again the income will have dropped significantly.

As long as the costs for the training ground have not been attributed to this year, my educated guess (as an accountant) is that we declare losses of £17m-22m and the maximum fine the FL can impose is £2m less than the loss we post.

I believe a large chunk would be suspended like the man city amount as long as we complied in the future with the ffp.

Also read some where .we could refuse to pay it which could mean the footblal league banning us from re entering the championship if relegated but if they were to do that then the premier league would counter it with harsh sanctions.
Always good fun at qpr isnt it lol

I read that tony will take it the law courts if need be. And to be honest, I think it's a very valid point. His angle is that if a team has just come down from the Prem, how on earth can they adjust in the very first season? They lose a ton of revenue and have players on higher (premiership level) contracts. Sell everyone?

Team's that come down should be given a couple of seasons to adjust their costs vs their new revenue.

In our case - FFP as applied breaks quite a few EU laws. So any lawyer worth is salt will have a field day....... and the really good ones will end up with a case for suing the FL.

My guess is that the FL will adjust FFP to account for situations like ours before any sanctions are brought....... or at least they should...... because if not they will get their ar$e handed to them..... with interest.

as a differet accountant, i'm not quite sure, this fully adds up.

              last season we lost £65m
if we reduced the wage bill by £400k per week, then that's £21m less out the door. (so loss down to £44m)
for samba, we can only claim the profit against his net book value at the time of sale - probably a bit less than £2m (loss now £42m)
unfortunately, terminating cisse's contract means that we would need to write off his remaining book value - probably roughly the same amount as the profit from the samba deal (back to £44m)
some profit on selling mackie (£1m?) and maybe a £2m loan fee for remy (loss = £41m)
hopefully contract amortisation for austin, philips etc is roughly the same as for departed players like cisse and samba (so loss is still £41m)
...but tv income has reduced by at least £18m (so the loss is still potentially massive... £59m)

£59m loss would mean that the football league would be asking us for £47.681m

i guess if we refuse to pay until a court appeal is heard, the football league could ask for a transfer embargo in the meantime.

fernandes is right when he says that the rules are harsh on clubs coming down... sorting out the wage bill by getting rid of players is going to normally involve some hefty losses initially, unless you've got lots of excellent players that can spark a bidding war (and if you'd have had those, then why did you get relegated in the first place)
