  • Gary O'Neill the hero

Didn't even try to deny he made a cynical foul when interviewed after the match. Said he took one for the team it was as simple as that and knew he'd get a red.

The man saved our season, with Hill as the last man it would have surely been a penalty or he'd have got skinned. Zamora will get headlines, O'Neill saved our season IMO.

It allowed us to park the bus and bide our time for an opening. Derby wouldn't have scored in a month of Sundays IMO after O'Neill see red (though it obviously never felt like that at the time). Upon reflection all they had was half chances all match.

We're we really that lucky or have we been parking the bus all season and nicking late winners I ask you? I've hated the football this season but there's no denying its effectiveness. In someways it has felt line watching the footballing equivalent of moneyball this season (if that analogy makes sense)

So for me Gary O'Neill is my hero from yesterday , he took a calculative risk and it paid off. The script was written and unforgettable scenes followed ....

we have been playing some pretty slow ,dire football all season but our defense is top notch. Always allows us to nick games 1 0

I agree, was saying the same thing in the pub after the match, it looked a red every day from where we were but watching the replay, not so much!

Did what he had to do. Can't say any more. As for our defensive display after that, it wasn't pretty and didn't look like we'd ever score and personally think we wouldn't of lasted out 30 mins in extra time to reach pens, but our defence lacks pace, so it suited them to sit deep as they'd never get beaten with runners behind that way. They could then mop up any high balls.

Sometimes those things have to be done, and that was one of those times.

Tend to agree with everything being said but I'm not sure the geezer would have scored he was running away from goal on his wrong foot, Hill running towards him and green closing the angle. Think in odd way having 10 men worked to our advantage focused minds and mentality

                        The bloke`s a hero.
                        He done the professional thing.
I don`t suppose it`s very sporting but in a game like that it had to be done.
Last season our defence would have parted like the red sea, but what a difference a season makes.
The Chief is quickly becoming my new favourite player with another awesome performance.

I was ****ing fuming when he got sent off thinking how could he be so ****ing reckless but after the game it made sense. Had he's not made the foul we would of lost. We didn't play well with 11 players and it allowed the game to change by letting them play in our half. we got them when derby switched off for a few seconds because our concentration level defening wise was much higher due to being under pressure most of the game.

                              Agreed.
Nedum is a great CB, better than some of those muppets Hodgson has picked !
