  • Possible tube strike - travel help

Hi. It has been a while since I have posted I live up north and am coming down for the final with the wife and kids and get to kings Cross early Saturday morning and was planning to head down to the Bush for a few pre match ales before the match as usual. If the strike goes ahead what will be the best way for us to get to get there and Wembley as I have been fortunate and not encountered this before? Thanks

Thought the plan was for midnight Saturday ? As in Saturday night start not Friday night start ?

From reading the reports, if the strike does go ahead it will unfortunately be from first thing on Saturday, not Saturday night. However, TFL are saying they will be able to run a pretty well normal service anyway as they will replace the striking workings who are controlling the power supplies.

If the worse does happen though, from Kings Cross it is a very short walk (5 mins) to Euston Station and you can get the London Overground Service to Wembley Central so you should be fine. It normally runs every 30 minutes.

I think the strike won't go ahead. Further talks are taking place today and even if they don't agree then the Tube has replacements ready to go in (possibly). The good thing is, the tube will have to be closed from Friday night, so you'll know before travelling and have time to make prior arrangement. Trains take 21 mins from Euston to Wembley central and run every 20 mins though, so that will be your best bet.
