    Its not like that.

He retired from World Cup international team 3 years ago, as he started suffering from his knee pain earlier on.

Parks words, according to them, he didn't want to provide poor service to QPR fans and the club as he can't possibly play upto his standard anymore due to knee problems.

For the sake of himself and QPR FC, and the fans, he decided to walk off from the ground as a professional player not to be burden to us.

Good thing for QPR FC is that, he has a year left here and he has officially retired. meaning he will have to pay the money to compensate for the time he still has for us.

    Full Respect to Park

Have you got a link to information about this contract extension? His contract expires in the summer, I've seen no articles suggesting otherwise.
I could've imagined Fernandes giving him an additional year in an ambassadorial role, to help grow QPR's fanbase in Asia. But he'd have never played on the pitch again, he's not what we need. Fernandes doesn't pick the players either, that's the manager's job

Sorry but I think Park is finished even If he agree to lower his wage due to his age and the fact that he is injury prone.

Yeah that will be it he lied ha ha ha or perhaps he just never said anything in the first place and your making it up and have been caught out

Fairly sure chairman would have reasonable idea a player is retiring and as said below you think TF gave Park a second thought during the celebrations Monday and rang to do an interview?? I think not

Do you seriously believe this man took time away from his celebrations, to sneak away and give an interview to a lone Korean reporter about Park's future? An interview not picked up by any of the British press? It must've been in the one quiet/uninhabited part of Loftus Road that night. A toilet cubicle maybe?

Apart from his radio interview this morning, Fernandes hasn't spoken to anybody whatsoever ( skip to 19:45 http://talksport.com/alan-brazil-spo...13-14051390984) .

Don't you think it would be amazingly 'convenient', for a Korean newspaper to somehow pick up on this incredible news that nobody else in the world managed to get?
Not that it matters anymore, but you are not seeing this in perspective. The "lone reporter" from "a Korean newspaper" implies that this is some random guy who TF would not give the time of day. On the contrary, TF is no stranger to the Korean media, and he has given many interviews with regard to Air Asia and QPR, to him it's a business relationship and he does take that seriously.

Now, the newspaper in question is Sports Chosun, the sports segment of the Chosun Ilbo -- this is basically Korea's oldest (among those still in existence), most reputable and most circulated newspaper. The newspaper originated in 1919, during the Japanese occupation, and its editors and staff faced imprisonment and worse for being critical of the Japanese occupation. A lot of time has passed since then, and now it is mostly viewed as a right-wing newspaper, but is still the most circulated and credible newspaper in Korea. This newspaper company has its own television network, as well (think of BBC).

This being the case, they have a certain standard of reporting, and although the editorial review for sports news cannot be as stringent as political and financial news, when a newspaper such as this prints that "Chairman Fernandez met exclusively with Sports Chosun at Loftus Road after the match against Wigan on the 13th..." and quotes TF as having said, "Ji Sung Park is a top player and will return to QPR next season, regardless of our promotion bid," you can be sure that Tony Fernandes did utter those words, or at least something to that effect prior to translation. Might it have been all of 10 seconds? Sure. But they would not quote TF directly unless he did actually say it.

                  http://sports.chosun.com/news/news.h...eDate=20140513

As to why this newspaper was "somehow" able to "pick up on this incredible news that nobody else in the world managed to get", that's because only the Korean (and perhaps Dutch) press would have been interested in asking that question at that particular time (one day prior to Park's scheduled press conference, which the Dutch press correctly predicted would be Park's retirement announcement). This reporter is probably familiar enough with TF that he was able to get the story despite the celebration.

Not that it matters, of course, but just to keep the record straight.

This times a million . Who gives a **** about park ? He was **** while he was here and didn't want to hang around when the chips were down even if we'd wanted him to . If you need to get behind a player get behind yun at least the boy shows some passion and is half decent . The obsession with park is a little bit weird

By Peter and Rutherford SEOUL (Reuters) - South Korean Park Ji-sung announced his retirement from soccer on Wednesday, bringing the curtain down on a career that took him to the 2002 World Cup semi-finals and saw him become the first Asian to play in a UEFA Champions League final. Park's industry, energy and work ethic made him a favourite of Alex Ferguson during his time at Manchester United and his performances in England and with Dutch side PSV Eindhoven helped raise the profile of Korean soccer around the world. \"I didn't cry about it yesterday, and I'm not crying about it today, that means I'm leaving with no regrets,\" he told a news conference at the Park Ji-sung Football Centre in Suwon, where he has a street named after him. I'm truly grateful for all the support I have received and I will live the rest of my life thinking how I can pay it back.\" After leaving Manchester United in 2012, Park signed for Queen's Park Rangers but spent the last season on loan at PSV.

Any chance a mod could alter the thread title and op to give more people the good news that park wont be returning?

Didn't work out for him here, no more hard feelings toward him but thank phuck this is all over with now.

Ah yeah so that is why Fernandes was going crazy celebrating on Monday night. Not cause QPR got to Wembley........Not cause they have got to the play off final and the richest game in football.....Not cause they have the chance of being back in the Premier League.......It's all cause Park was returning 100% to QPR.

Anyway he has retired now. Useless for QPR. Hopefully we still get regular updates on his dinner and what shower gel he uses.
