  • Liverpools season and the pain of 76'

I wasn't born until 79 so not able to relate as well to what happened in 76, but its some thing like 25 years since Liverpool won the league so for many of their supporters that defeat against Chelsea will be like 'that defeat against Norwich' for us in 76.

I wanted Liverpool to win it to stop Chelsea previously but now City are back on top how could any Rangers fan want this to finish up any other way.....and to lose it on goal difference will be hilarious especially as they will probably get a century of goals this season.

No, it's not the same. They have got lots of other titles to console themselves with. That was our one chance, and we had the best footballing team in the league by a country mile. We should have won it.

Personally, I've nothing against Liverpool and hope they win the league. They were the Man Utd of the '70s so I find it hard to hold what happened in '76 against them. I'm sure they were favourites going into the season so turning them over on opening day at LR with Gerry Francis scoring the goal of the season was more than a bit special (I was there and remember it well!).

Here you go, this will warm the cockles of your heart!
August 16th 1975: QPR-Liverpool 2-0 (Francis, Leach).A great day for great football. That Francis goal was later voted goal of the season.

That was my first season, I thought it was always going to be like that, Stan Bowles was the king of Loftus rd, Norwich, even up to today I can't abide them, I remember Emlyn Hughes saying we didn't have the bottle for it, that's why they won, well it looks like Liverpool didn't have the bottle for it this time either!
            Kept the faith!

Hope City win it, Liverpool fans would be unbearable if they won it.

Hope Liverpool win it, would be a more genuine sporting/managerial achievement than another predictable Oil Sheikh Citeh triumph.
Banning people is no longer my hobby,
but take a look at my photo blog:

How and why did I start supporting QPR in Estonia:

If it wasn't for the insufferable fans I too would be happy to see Liverpool win it.

Mind you, they'll not stop harping on if they lose it either. Catch 22.

Much rather hear em harp about farking it up though. Made me cringe seeing em with the flares and having a party welcoming the team bus in when they thought they'd won it recently. Not having the media love in with em either, I'm praying City don't balls it up.

That said though, I have to admit I do like Brendan Rodgers and think he is a very savvy manager. It's just their fans I really can't stand.
