Its great to meet the footballers from the past.
All played for the love of the game, unlike most of the players in the game today that just chase the £££ !!

Towards the end of his spell with us, it could be that he felt too much responsibity for getting us a result? Like Matty implied his effort was good, but on the other hand, his overall timing (passing, tackling and even heading) was questionable to say the least..

Some players thrive when surrounded by better players but cannot be counted to step to the plate and dictate games. Mbia, Park, Granero looked bog standard for us at best. We expected them to be a Tarbs or a Ravel or Austin. First names on the teamsheets, gamechangers. I think because they came with so much fanfare, we expected more. Life moves on I guess!

According to some on here (a view I have never agreed with) is that his standard is as a pub player .

He would have been a great asset to the side in the Championship but for some reason, he wasn't kept. I thought he said he wanted to stay - Redknapp recently said his wages were the reason for loaning him out. I would have preferred him staying and Johnson going which would have gone a long way to solving the wages issue, but as we all know now, Redknapp speaks with a forked tongue.

I disagree with this and with many of those who criticised him last season.

He was committed, but the problem was largely with the players around him who weren't. He was running around all over the place trying to fill in and cover for the lazy players in the team who couldn't be bothered.

He also had more goal assists than many of the other midfielders.

At times he was clumsy and gave away needless free kicks, but as many have seen this season in La Liga, is that in a settled and disciplined Sevilla side he is a very effective central midfielder.

Shame on Hughes and Redknapp for not being able to get the best out of the squad last season and sahme on the people who thought it was sensible to pay £5M or whatever it was he cost, and gave him a 22 month contract.

He can leave on a free transfer in July, rather than QPR being able to cash in on his good season at Sevilla - now that is smart. thinking.

Thought he was a decent player to be honest. Was always going to do well at any club with a decent team spirit and togetherness.

He was sh*t for us and I'm happy he will never be here again.

by scoring that goal for the Spaniards he has indeed proved himself to be an unrecognised qpr legend.....if they name a bar in his honour at the new ground
it will be packed to the rafters......

Played out of position for most of his time with us, so asked to a job he was not equipped to do. His failure for us and success with other teams says more about Hughes/Redknapp not be able to build a team. Good player as his current and probably future clubs will testify to, those who believe he is rubbish need to understand how players and team complement each other.

As Robson says, seems a lot of these players we signed really aren't bad - our club is the common denominator and it just seemed we were rotten to the core last year. we would have probably turned Zlatan sheet.
Actually that's a good point he did try hard ...i'd forgotten.

Was expected to be a box to box midfielder which he never was, so as a result got caught out of position on a regular basis which he tried to make up for with poor decision making. He is a defensive midfield player or centre back (until sending off had excellent game at Arsenal who move the ball better than most) where he can see it all in front of him.
