the game was a dead rubber, im sure all of our players were playing within themselves to not get injuries and bookings and rightly so. this game was meaningless.

cos we got a slow defence?

Exactly To us it was a totally worthless and nothing but a runaround and a no injurys game, to them it was for their survival and they had to give every single inch of whatever they had to get result, so surprised people cant see that. Really eager to find out what happens in next weeks game, when realistically , neither club really needs to even bother to play.

We got a premier league squad.

A poor one that should be mid table except for our very lucky start.

There is a chance of promotion but we must be odds on not going up based on last 10 to 15 matches.

Perfect opportunity to blood the likes of Skapetis, Petrasso, Donaldson etc and/or experiment with formations.

I caught part of the Saints-Everton match and both sides brought in some of their Under 21 players, that is in the EPL! The only reason Harry would have to keep them out of the side would be their involvement in the U21 play offs!

Did not watch the game, however I agree with your logic. Knowing that even Wigan were loosing, why should we use all our energy for a meaningless game? However, as for the play-offs I am not so optimistic. Maybe the luck we experienced during the first part of the season will smile again. We have enough talent in our squad and I am sure that most of the players will up their performance for the challenge. But on current form I am not that optimistic.

Or to give Carroll and Krancjar yet another chance to do nothing.

It will be the first and only game that it doesn't actually matter what the result is. And to be fair, it can't get much worse than today.

Let's be brutally honest with ourselves here. Despite all the management/manager's talk about being content to just make the playoffs, we had a big salary club expected to deliver big time results. To date we are far from that mark. As for the style of play, with the "possible" exception of the first dozen games or so, it has been boring, pedantic and unproductive. THAT responsibility rests with the coaches, and 45 games in it's frightening to see our form and play has not improved -- at all. To win the playoffs, and it's clearly our only shot, we will have to have a string of standout performances from individual players who elevate their game DESPITE the abdication of managerial direction. This leaves Charlie, Ravel, Joey, and Clint in the spotlight...if they play outstanding football in the playoffs, we advance. If not, the reasons are maddeningly obvious...

So Stan, lets get this clear my friend.....you think I am hijacking your thread because I am putting across a differing/contrary view to your opening gambit....is that it? Is putting across a different take on things not allowed now?

Neither of them should feature in the play offs. Should be replaced by Jenas and Holliett in today's team.

You hijacked it because you took it off-topic TW - the topic being specifically today's performance, not how happy we should be for making the play-offs
