This is his first full season playing regularly, will only get better. Thought he was more positive today passing forward more. Played an absolute worldy reverse ball forgot to who now but was real class.
Yes any more great performances from LTC and there will be a good slice of humble pie being eaten on most of these forums and in the crowd. The stick he has endured is shameful.

          Has it though?

Carroll was billed as future England international and given the number 10 shirt. Granted he played very well yesterday but on the whole he has been a huge disappointment. You can't blame fans for being disappointed, the club has signed so many supposed top class players in recent years on big salaries that just haven't delivered. Surely fans are within their rights to criticise?!!

The fans have no right to criticise a player when the player has done nothing wrong bar play football. It's similar to the Cesar situation. It is not Carrolls fault he gets picked. It is not his fault HR and others big him up. It is not his fault his game is not to some peoples liking.

Think there are some HUGE kneejerk reactions here to Carroll having a good game and he did no disputing that!! he done today what many have been asking him to do week in week out. He passed the ball forwards, he put tackles in, bombed forward and he had a pop at goal; if he was doing that week in week out then I don't think there would be many having a pop as that type of player (how he performed today) as he is worth his place in the team.

But he's not done the above week in week out quite the opposite so two or three decent games in what 20 or 25 matches I am afraid does not warrant people will eat humble pie b ollocks as is suggested. If Will Keane scores next week will people be eating humble pie???

What Carroll has done is demonstrate that he does have it in his locker to put in proper performances that do influence not just the team but also the outcome of the game and now he's set the standard he needs to reach that mark more often then not that's the big hurdle for him now consistency.

I was thinking last night, given how well he played, why he's comes up so short of that standard and my conclusion is it perhaps is the management as the player we saw yesterday is a different player to the one that tips up away from home (where I reckon he is just told to sit and keep the ball) and who we saw for 95% of the season so far. So fair play to him a very decent performance yesterday and he's now set the standard he needs to maintain and if he can do for the next 7 games then you will not hear a peep from me

The stick he got from the stands in previous games was well over the top in my opinion. You could still see he was a good player. The humble pie is for those people and not those with the more considered opinion like yours.

Fair play CCJ I don't believe in booing individual players don't think it helps anything. I would love him to come good especially the last seven games as when he is interviewed he comes across as decent young man which in todays football culture is a rarity

the team was more balanced yesterday and that had a massive impact....having a vocal point upfront made a massive difference. The players seemed to believe they could score yesterday with Austin on the pitch.

I thought Henry came on and done well. Barton has to walk back in the side when fit

Henry played a great cross field ball to BAE when Bobby hit the post from like a yard out, didn't think he had it in his locker.

I think Henry is a better player then he shows certainly a place for him in the squad. Definitely protects the back four

I said I thought he was great today and has been on a few occasions . If just like to see the club move forward with younger hungry players . That's not really a criticism is it ?
Totally agree with you. In fact we should not discuss any contracts extension before the season is over because we still don't know what league we will play.
