Our defence has been very suspect all season long. We were getting away with it mainly due to the absolutely abject opposition attacks we had the good fortune to play during that period.

Redknapp is just a complete idiot and even if we were to scrape promotion via the play offs, I hope he would have the decency to walk away. He'll never get a better chance to retire whilst appearing to have been a success and still be able to fool the world that he was anything other than a journeyman manager.

I'm beginning to think that the reason so many wanted him as England manager was so that he wouldn't destroy their own clubs.

The early season great form was in no small part to inept finishing and great goalkeeping from Green.

I recall that Bolton could and should have scored but Beckford screwed his shot wide when clean through having left Dunne trailing in his wake.
Rudolph Austin (Leeds) hit a last minute shot against the bar a few weeks later. Ipswich and Brighton played as if tey couldnt score if they played all night and Charlton have been dreadful all season long.

So it was obvious that sooner or later that clean sheet run would end, especially when Dunne & Hill's ageing limbs would tire out on the heavy and muddy pitches.

Thats true but we all knew we needed cover for when/if he got injured/tired. THe geezer hadn't played for ages due to injury for a start!

True!! - Interesting point about redknapp and the England job.. The FA obviously had the information we have now about Redknapp being a useless tactician and the wrong man to bring youth players through.... because he doesn't fvcking bring youth players through!!

Simpson was as big a miss as Austin in my eyes because of this very situation , Simpson being there would allow HR to rotate Hill and Dunne with Onuoha in the middle, with Emher as back up , thats the reason the two have played so many games, they weren't expected to play as much but our injury crisis just hasn't allowed them to be rested . Both the younger centre backs have been injury prone where the two oldens seem to have kept on going

This is not completely wright because he brought Hughes in right away so he could have roteded Hill, Dunne and Onuoha if he WANTED or FIGURED OUT

Im talking all season , they have played more games all season than would have been expected to , and because of Simpsons injury Hughes has been used at Right back mainly , instead of using him to rotate at centre back , so it comes back to Simpsons injury, massive loss

For many games Onuoha was sitting on the bench with Dunn, Hill playing game after game - this is before Simpsons injury

Dont know how many games he was on the bench, or how many of those were coming back from injuries, all i do know is Simpsons injury has meant that Hill and Dunne have had to play more games than would have been expected. you wouldnt change the back four for the first 10/15 games when we were at our strongest there, but when you would want to rest them after Christmas you simply couldn't because they have been needed because of injures

He also had the option of using Oneywu when he was at the club, but didn't rotate.

Let's face it Redknapp is full of excuses.
