Not a strange post at all. It says exactly what it needs to. Mackie aint a legend. He showed others up with his workrate. He is average at best. The bloke scored some goals - whoopy do. So did Stuart Wardley, but it didn't stop him from being shite nor does it make him a legend. Tony Scully ran his socks off and scored a couple; was he great? Is he a legend? There may be better examples but I can't think of any at the mo!

The word 'legend' is thrown around far too lightly these days. Does Mackie fit into the group that contains the likes of Marsh Bowles Francis Ferdinand and Macca? IMO he doesn't.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Not a legend but better than the players just been mentioned. Should be held in high regard for the years before the prem.

Like I said in another post if he had the talent/ability to go to the next level then he could've been a legend... but when he left was he a legend?.... absolutely not!

Mackie is a class player at championship level...he scored goals and caused defenders problems all day long and in the prem he scored and was a handful as well....if wed had him this year i bet wed be in a better position now... would of prefered mackie upfront rathere than the crap we have had to use instead of austin

Makes me laugh when posters say he weren't premiership class or didn't get to the next level as if we are Athletico Madrid or Man City. It's this delusion of grandeur that allowed Hughes to decimate our championship winning squad as fans bought into Hughsys vision that our core players couldn't step up a level and that's why the elderly & infirm premiership players and mercenaries were drafted in en masse without a wimper of disapproval.
Maybe that championship winning team couldn't of kept us up but we wouldn't of ended up in £180m debt and being a final pension scheme for unemployable players. Long term sustainability though would have been better served IMHO with the core team.
Just think the saying be careful what you wish for came home to haunt us.
                    Should have kept Mackie.

so has a bad day and must be shite?? Hes playing in a team with no confidence...we lost last 2 before today does that mean morrison all of a sudden is a shite player?? MAckie at this level is very good player. He also done us proud in the prem. As someone else said earlier half of you think we are part of the premier league elite.
I look at mackie and think of him as class champ player and someone who done it at prem level too, scoring against the likes of liverpool, city and if i remeber united too...

Good!! Got a good cheer when they called his name when announcing the teams before kick of and also got a good "there's only one Jamie Mackie" song from the Ellerslie road end

I've never understood the need to continually 5lag off players who go out there and give heart and soul for the club. They deserve better.
'Only a Ranger!' cried Gandalf. 'My dear Frodo, that is just what the Rangers are: the last remnant in the South of the great people, the Men of West London.' - Lord of the Rings, Book II, Chapter I - Many Meetings.
