Others were more of a liability, for example Granero, Diakite and Mbia constantly getting caught out of possession in dangerous areas..far more than taarabt. Thought he was decent in most games but didn't back it up with goals, apart from a handful of games over the 2 seasons.

Not in most games I saw. He had a spell under Hughes where he showed signs of maturing into a better overall player but have to say my impression of him a lot of the time was he simply couldn't deal with the pace of the English game. That left him frustrated and adrift and little more than a passenger a lot of the time. Granero too after a promising start struggled with the pace of the game. Diakite struggled with life generally. Mbia looked shocking at times but ok other times and after a poor first game in defence looked ok at back. Would like to have seen him in a settled position in a settled team. I kind of got the impression because he wasn't a maverick creative type the fans didn't cut him the same slack as say someone like Adel.

I think we are doing well to get a fee for him and rid of the associated baggage.

If anyone can be bothered to look it up they can but think in terms of goals, assists and pass completion he ranked as one of our most successful players last season (albeit without much competition). Everyone has a pop at Adel but did he contribute less than - to pick just one at random - Granero, who cost about six times more? I don't think so.
