If Austin and Phillips had not got injured, QPR would almost certainly have won more thab the 2 points from the games against Derby, Reading, Charlton, Brighton, Leeds, Sheff Weds and Blackpool. even if they drew all 7 of those, it would leave QPR just 4 points away from Burnley.
That's not to say that I don't think Redknapp should have been better prepared for injuries to QPR's attacking options. We all knew that Johnson and Zamora would at best be bit part players for QPR this season.

We have Bournemouth, Blackburn, Leicester and Barnsley away and Forest, Watford and Millwall at home.
If we really have any chance we'll need to win all our home games and then 3 of the 4 away games, hoping that Burnley slip up big time in their remaining games. Perhaps if we'd beaten Blackpool there might be some tiny amount of hope but realistically I really can't see it...

Apparently Ings should be back in a week or so, but last Saturday against us, they looked a bit toothless. Mind you, not only was Ings and (from about 15 minutes in) Vokes missing, but Trippier was out and Marney suspended. Not sure if Trippier will be back on Saturday, but if not I think they might struggle against Watford.
This time last week I would have had Burnley nailed on for the autos, but their injuries and their thin squad opens things up. One thing's sure: Rangers won't get a better opportunity.

in a 46 game season there are plenty of opportunities to do what is required...i dont think leicester are a particularly good side and will get raped in the prem with their current squad but have been the most consistent and therefore deserve to go up....burnley have doggedly held on and i believe we will ultimately fall five/six points off automatic spot....considering we have been gash most of the season it sums up what a poor league ,quality wise, this is!you know nothing john snow!!!!

Of course, if we do go up, we'll need to strengthen the squad a lot, and the subject of who stays, who goes and who comes in is a constant topic of conversation on the Foxes Talk Forum, and has been for a while now. I hadn't realised, but apparently there is a limit of 25 players for Premier League squads which means some hard choices will need to be made. I'm very confident that Nigel Pearson will choose well, because he's not made many mistakes in the time he's been with us, but you never know. For the moment, I am enjoying the ride: we have been absolutely useless for a long time.
Back on the subject of this thread, I think that the Vokes injury will cause Burnley a lot of problems, even when/if Ings comes back. They have a very small squad, and on Saturday they didn't have anyone at all to replace Vokes when he went off. Like Sean Dyche said, you can't lose two 20-goal-a-season players and not expect to suffer.Last edited by LanguedocFox; 01-04-2014, 03:11 PM.

Burnley fan here. Yes, we were a bit toothless against Leicester, but we have won games by creating the chances for Vokes and Ings. Players like Jones, Arfield, Marney etc have all chipped in with a few this season and we even scored the winner againist Blackburn once Vokes had been subbed with Barnes - who looked good when playing Charlton (Even Tripper was missing for that game 3-0). When we have play lower teams we have done well overall.
There were plenty who said we would struggle when Ings went off Injured aganst Birmingham. We won the next three. Like Leicester we play a high octane pressing game and even without Vokes it is likely we will create something. Marney is back for Barnsley and Vokes aside we will in all likelihood have a full strength side for five games. In reality we should get another 7-8 points which will be difficult to overhaul.

I personally have no objection with away fans coming in sensibly and giving an alternative opinion. Its the wallys from Fulham who talk nonsense and need educating
Burnley should be home and dry but you never know a loss to Watford could result in a downwards slide as it often happens that way, your sailing along nicely then you hit the skids without warning Langued will be able to testify for this
My issue is even if Burnley did hit the skids im not sure we are consistent enough to take advantage so they prob could lose two or three and still not be under any significant pressure from us. For me the key is to get within 4 or 5 points with three games to go
