  • QPR turned down Zlatan Ibrahimovic when he came for trial aged 16

QPR were in the second tier of English football at the time of Ibrahimovic’s trial and passed up the opportunity to sign one of the biggest talents in Europe.
Ibrahimovic has gone on to score nearly 250 career goals and won titles with Ajax, Inter, Barcelona, Milan and PSG.

Flygare, who has written the book with Swedish journalist Daniel Nilsson Padilla, told Sportsmail: ‘Zlatan was holding on to the ball for too long and the trainer tackled him when he wasn’t expecting it.
‘For that, Zlatan tackled him back and then told the trainer to “**** off”. He went mad at Zlatan.
‘Being in England was so much different. He just told Zlatan: “for that, you’re going to breathe through your a***”. I’ll never forget it. We didn’t hear from QPR again.'

Precisely, Ibrahimovic could't pull faces like that in a million years, amateur.

No doubt he would have turned out shyte had he signed for us, lucky escape

I am certain we were not the only English team to turn him down.

He refused a trial with Arsenal by saying "Zlatan doesn't do auditions"
In his autobiography he talks about all the trials he has had, but never mentions once QPR?

Ha, the guy is certainly full of himself but in the last few years has been able to back that up with performances. Didn't think he was all that in his younger years when he was hyped up a lot.

Always produced at every club mate. A lot of people said he was over rated but IMO one of the best strikers in my era, and IMO currently the worlds best striker (I don't class Ronaldo or Messi as centre forwards). Also a scorer of some of the best goals in modern football history, even when at Ajax as a youngster he done this.

Only at QPR eh (if true)

Zlatan is a ludicrously good player. IMO never got the credit he deserved (up until the past 3 years or so) as our media seemed to create a myth that he was no good Agree with Robson in that he's right up there with the best players of my generation.

Won whatever league he has been in 10 years out of the last 12, and averaged 22 league goals over the last 8 season. Some of the goals he scores are outrageous, I'd go as far as to say THAT goal vs England was one of the very best I've ever seen.

I love his arrogance as well, among his many quotes, this one tickled me:

“What Carew does with a football, I can do with an orange.”

You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Ahhh the good old British press, not good enough because he hasn't done it on a wet Tuesday night in Barnsley............Like Barnsley is the bench mark for world class footballers

I see some ridiculous comments even on Messi saying he can't be judged until he does it in England v Stoke, again like Stoke are some sort of bench mark to play against
