To some extent you are correct, Mike, but the advantage of the playoffs is that it maintains interest in the season for a lot of clubs right to the last day. Last season, for example, we had to beat Forest at the City Ground - something we had not done in the League since 1972 - and hope that Bolton would not beat Blackpool - who had nothing to play for but pride. We won with virtually the last kick of the game, and Bolton could only draw. The most exciting day of football I can remember in a long time.
