  • Something pretty cool I found about QPR

I've spent most of my afternoon of the archive of 19th Century newspapers doing essay research on Victorian Art and while distracted typed in Queens Park Rangers.

It came up with this http://callisto.ggsrv.com/imgsrv/Fet...+32&scale=0.33

This is the oldest newspaper article mentioning QPR in the whole of the British Library's archive. I found it quite cool some others may not be so nerdy. Let me know if the link works it made not as im logged in through my uni
i supported qpr in the glory days when chris kiwomya and michael ngonge played up front

That's not Queens Park Rangers tbf, it's Queen's Park & Rangers in the 2nd round draw of a Scottish Cup

Third Lanark ??? Volunteers v Queens Park, Rangers v Whitehill

Don't get me wrong, I'm exactly the type to be absolutely fascinated this kind of stuff, I'm reading the rest of the page at the moment.

I'd love to know what was the earliest mention too.

We should have this as a competition.

First prize: an hour with TW 10 minutes after a defeat.

Good spot! I was just about to post that when I did the club tour, they have a timeline posted on the wall that begins in 1886. The reason, we were told (because I asked!), was that the name "Queens Park Rangers" came into being in that year. So it would have been very strange to see it used in a newspaper from 1883.

                      Regardless, fascinating post, thanks!

I''m guessing the sub heading "The Scottish Association Challenge Cup" wasn't enough of a giveaway for some.......

I did find one in the Times from 1903 saying our readmission to the southern league had been rejected
