The Mittels if they were serious had the financial muscle to do whatever they wanted in football. Problem was it was always Amit's father-in-law who held the purse strings. Bottom line is they could have bought the club with as much ease as you or I cd buy a morning newspaper - fact is they didn't. Tony is a great guy, full of enthusiasm and totally committed having put his fortune where his mouth is. In retrospect it hasn't gone that well and in top flight terms Tony isn't even THAT rich. So we didn't win the lottery after all. So Champions League never happened and it never will now, but at least we are not handing round buckets. Think our future as a solid Championship club is secure for another year, which isn't to be sniffed at. Hopefully there will be a bit of soul searching over the summer. From Tony's tweet it sounds as if a bit of realism has set in and the grand talk is over. All about trying to get into the Prem in the next couple of years and then surviving, no more talk of the big time. Sad in one way but maybe we needed that dose of realism.

I think Fernandes is a cracking guy but the cold hard facts are that he's failed so far. The club is in a far worse position both in terms of league position and finances than we were when he arrived. To be honest a lot of it was bad luck, I didn't complain when Hughes was appointed or Harry for that matter but with hindsight both were the wrong move.......and don't even get me started about our transfer policy.
I'm just hoping that lessons have been learned and by hook or by crook we get ourselves back to the Premiership this year and we can start to rebuild!Last edited by Tarbie; 14-03-2014, 08:47 AM.
