I do agree with this but at some point someone needs to sit Harry down and think sensibly about next season. I don't think we will go up and I'm not really sure that if we do it would be any different to the last time we go up. Either way , up or down , there will be so many changes and if Harry is looking to duck out if we don't Then maybe we should start looking to next seasons manager in April. Is there any point in waiting till close season when Harry decides he's not up for it anymore and spends his retirement talking about Spurs again.
Then again , what's the point in changing a manager now with him trying to stamp his way of playing on this squad when they'll all change again ..... Oh it's a merrygoround and I want to get off , but I know if I do I'll only hurt myself !!
      Painful ain't it

      Love em!!

Pretty sure Redknapp will walk if we don't go up, the problem may come if we do sneak through the play offs as he will then surely want one last go at the Prem.

The problem is Redknapp is very much an old fashioned manager who thinks putting out 11 experienced players with good reputations is enough, with little thought to the opposition. He is way behind others in terms of physical preparation with the players having numerous periods of rest throughout the season, which has left their fitness levels poor compared to other teams. This not only results in injuries but means we can't step up the pace of games and put the opposition under pressure, the amount of hamstring and strains we have suffered is more than bad luck.

He was also completely unprepared for this season, Austin was great signing but has always been injury prone and had a shoulder problem long before he came to us so no surprise he is out injured. Zamora has been shot for a season and to be honest should be ashamed that he has put so little effort into getting fit and giving something back as he has been very well paid during his time with us for little in return. Johnston was an injury waiting to happen leaving us with little striker cover, we all saw it but apparently not Redknapp. Or maybe he did but Fernandes wouldn't sanction any more to spent on strikers with Zamora and Johnston picking up an estimated 5 million a year between them.

Fernandes needs to have a good long think, forget the quick fix solutions, wherever we end once the season has ended take time now to find the right young manager, who can employ the right sport science methods and tactical awareness that makes the team better than its component parts (ala Leicester and Burnley). It may take a season or two but we will have a team to be proud of and one that will take us forward long term.

Our season will be defined by our unwillingness to address, what has been, a long-standing issue, lack of a potent strike force.
We went half-way to solving the problem and got Charlie Austin then...........That was it, we got Charlie Austin in and when he got injured, the game was up for us.
          It's as simple as that.

I see it exactly like that as well. But i can assure you we will be in the play offs, cant we look forward to them as a small consolation prize? Bearing in mind Charlie will be well back by then as well.

I'd be happy with play offs only if we win them. ... I'm quite happy not seeing hoofball every week. ... I'm not happy with the way we can't produce in the final third. Maybe it's a building process but our problem is we are building on crap foundations. Who knows maybe the master plan is the u21s step up if we don't go up and all new contracts are signed if we do go up so not many leave. (Hope not) . All I know is that this season I expected nothing when it started and at least they are still in with a shout

A good post. I just want to add one thing concerning our future, I hope Fernandes will speak to Steve Gallen. It would be nice to see him given a vital coaching role next season. He has been around for many years now and should know the club inside out. Not quite sure he is of manager-material at this stage.

why do people keep saying harry will walk.

he has 1 year left. why would he walk out on 3mil for the sake of managing for 9 more months.

if we want him gone he will have to be sacked.

if fernandes dont sack him he will be here till the end of NEXT season.

Ginge & Ricky, two good posts.
My worry like Ricky is what happens if we go up via the playoffs? Will we be lumbered with Harry for another season, another rebuild of Harry's ex past it players and back to square one again?

By the way I was very pro Harry when we gave him the managers job, not sure what has happened but it just ain't working?
And no I don't buy the injury excuse as he didn't pick Ale or Phillips on numerous occasions when they we're fit?
I used to have a Gold Card but now only have Bronze!

We've got a massive problem if we do go up, because chances are Harry and the genius aka as Kevin Bond (FFS) will remain in situ with a squad not fit for purpose.

If staying down meant a long term rebuild with the emphasis on development and youth, with a young manager with none of Harry's erm form and proper tactical nous, I'd take that over promotion.

But we all know a long term footballing strategy simply doesn't exist.

If by some miracle we do win the play offs, i would like to see tony show the exact same loyalty and gratitude for the 100mill prize to redknapp as he did to warnock, and get rid of him quick smart.

Some miracle? I thought we were nailed on to finish in the top 2 (which then became the top four)?

The OP is absolute b0llox. With the resources at our disposal we have underachieved this season.

Just kidding about the b0llox of course, it was a very good post Ginge, but I do think we have underachieved. I don't think we have a god given right to win every game, but with the resources and Board support we have I do think we should be playing better football, have more points on the board, and not have had the form of a relegation candidate for the last eight games (that is now 8 points from the last 8 matches, if anybody is counting). It could still end well though and we certainly need to give our full support until it's over.
