Once a club meets the minimum bid to trigger a release clause, we'd be obliged to accept it. Other clubs may bid more, but they may as well save their money and use it to up their offer to the player, as he'd make the choice at that stage.
I'm sure we've had this discussion before?

Fish ol chap, i'm 99% certain that once the release clause is triggered that is all 20 clubs if there were that many interested have to pay QPR, the bidding will be wages and
        bonus's aimed at Remy.

The market value for a player is whatever anyone is daft enough to pay for them..........Andy Carroll to Liverpool for 35m and Torres to Chelsea for 50m both spring to mind. In my eyes Remy could fetch anything up to 25m if a big club wanted him bad enough, natural goal scorers proven at Premiership level are very tough to get your hands on these days.

All of that said, it wouldn't surprise me if there is a release clause in the contract and if there is Remy's agent will make sure he goes for not a penny more and any surplus funds come back the way of the player and the agent in signing on fees!

The one thing i hope points towards no clause, and i'll post it again is Harry warning the toon in january that the price would go up if they didn't make a move, and i'm pretty certain £8mill would not have put them off

                    Guess we'll find out.

I'm inclined to believe my pal though who should know this for his living!!

He wasn't that good at school though.

These are both correct T.F said no clause and Kinnear said he has to go back at the end of the season, and I believe that Remy has already turned down Newcastle saying he was keeping his options open, and will come back to the Rs that's why I think we should accept no less than £20M form whoever wants him but would love him to stay?

i remember this too. i also remember pardew saying about 6 weeks ago that every goal that remy scores for newcastle will mean that more clubs will be wanting to sign him and will end up pushing the price up. that said, people know that we're going to need to sell before we can even think about buying from now on...

(seem to remember that the £8m buy-out clause was supposedly limited to the last couple of windows only)

If we get promoted and not wish to go straight back down, I'd rather keep him as he guarantees goals at PL level.

If we're really as serious as the owners claim to be you always need to hold on to your best players.

I think that's the way Tony sees it.

Wd be amazed if we ever saw him in the blue and white hoops again. Mainly because I don't think we will go up, but even if we did he will be looking for a bigger club, unhappy at the prospect of coming back to a relatively small time club like ours and I expect we will take the view that we can buy two or three players (albeit not as good) as Remy with the money. Sadly we are not an Arsenal and think the days of us trying to pretend that we are like them are now over.
