Gary Holt, Danny Graham. He could have also kept Jay Bothroyd for one season. I think he wasn't bad when he played some games last season.

He is retired and was a defensive midfielder anyway? The other 2 are cr@p, but then prob do a better job then our current fit strikers.

Bothroyd was a poor signing overall but yes looked ok last season but after having done ok was hardly then played even when we were crying out for more options up front. Particularly as would have been a lower division should have kept him for another year. Was one of the many weird selections 'Arry made last year. That's what got me. We went through a spell of showing some fight and grinding results then he totally changed things around for no reason and we were then awful, far worse than even under Hughes at the start of that season.

For me 'Arry looks a spent force. The injuries are relevant but it doesn't explain away some of the strange team selections and the pedestrian and disinterested manner of some of our players who seem to get picked regardless. He just can't seem to motivate them and there is little cohesion. I do sometimes wonder what they do in training.

I agree we should of bought at least one other striker in and it was mad that we were relying so much on one player. But I don't think it was simple as just go out and bring someone in.

I am not sure who was available, but Doyle was one player he could have signed rather than wait until deadline day in January. Whilst he may not have been great, alongside playing Austin they could have formed a decent partnership rather than playing withwith one striker and then occasionally bringing on Johnson for the last 15-20 mins.

Another option was perhaps Wickham, who then went on to sign for Sheff Weds.

So to say he had no options or funds is probably just an excuse.

You say Graham and Bothroyd are crap, yet either of them alongside Austin would have been better than relying on either Zamora or Johnson to a) be fit enough to play or b) actually score goals. Johnson managed 2 in August then saw his move to Palace fall though and done sweet f.a. since.

I never said he had no options or funds, I just questioned it... but what I did say was IMO he focked up by relying on AJ and Zamora.

The point I was making, would it have been as simply as just going out and signing a decent striker. I don't think it was as simple as that, like some people seem to think. And that is why I questioned the things I did.

The trouble with Redknapp, like many other managers I suppose, is that they seem completely incapable of telling the truth.

It was he himself that sung the praises of those two. Personally, I would have been defending myself vigorously from the start, if I was made to make do with them. The most obvious mistake he made pre season.

Unfortunately, he compounded that one by making so many others during the course of the season.

Think TF needs to think very, very carefully about how long he allows this man to continue to fail and every bit as carefully as to who replaces him, so as not to make the same mistake three times in a row.
