I take it you sat with Rio when he signed? No? Oh, so you're making it up like everyone else then?

No one knows what he is on. One thing I find amusing is that some posters love agreeing with the press when it looks like positive news and always disagree when they write negative stuff or vise versa subject to what agenda you're siding with; humorous really.

And seeing as you cant be bothered to search yourself and only choose to scaremonger from The Daily Fail who are renowned for plucking figures out of thin air, here you go:

"With reports that Ferdinand’s basic wage at QPR will be as low as £40,000 a week...": http://www.london24.com/sport/footba...stay_1_3690860

The Standard have also reported it at 35k.

And you can't say for sure those reports are accurate either. Bottom line is no one really know except those associated with the club.

Mind you, of course Harry is going to say we got Rio on the cheap. He's hardly likely to say "oh yer, he's costing us £80k a week". We'd get slaughtered in the media and held to ransom by every player we tried to sign. Agents would have a field day.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

He signed up to this forum the same day this thread was started, and in over 4 months he's made 17 posts - ALL of them on this one thread. Make of that what you will.

According to Ric-Roc they are far more accurate than the Daily Fail, and suffice to say most people here trust his ITK track record over theirs.

I don't doubt what Ric has said but I take ALL newspaper reports with a pinch of salt.

                  I make him obsessed.

Genuine question for everyone though? What makes anybody in their right mind think that Rio Ferdinand, (or any other player for that matter), would be happy for their salary details and the insertion or not of various clauses, bonuses, to be divulged by their employers to the national press or various football fans.

Maybe I'm just naive. Or maybe as Richard alluded to, it's just a mixture of wild guesses and total fabrication.

                  • The 35-year-old has been persuaded to take a massive drop in wages after hearing Harry Redknapp’s plans for how he can help the London club on their return to the Premier League.

It is believed his salary is less than a third of his £200,000-a-week salary at Manchester United.

I realize this is not the most reliable source but it does suggest he will be on around 60K-65K per week. My guess is that is pretty close to the truth. If he helps us to stay up it will be money well spent. The key is for it to be a one year deal.

It seems pretty clear to me that that fate could await us if we don't manage things better than Pompey did.
Nothing to do with harry. If they are willing to spend its their responsibility to make sure they can afford it. Saints Spurs West Ham and Bournemouth are doing OK.

Rio's basic wage with us is £40k per week. Usual bonuses on top for clean sheets etc. He could have bagged triple the wages we offered to move to the MLS but wants 1 more year in the PL to shown he's still got it.

                          • Why do people say in a matter of fact way that they know how much a player earns and the details of his contract? I don't believe anyone on here knows.

Most menials don't. Some of us more important posters do though.

You mean the same Southampton and Bournemouth that have both suffered from going into administration after Redknapp had managed them? And the same Spurs team that he left because he wasn't allowed to spend as much as he wanted?
