You wouldn't make an investment, leave and then try to reclaim back what you know, you have no chance of getting.

Tony's a good man, there is no way he would ever do that
It's curious how people here - who presumably have no real idea how business works - seem to place so much value in "reputation"

If this sounds familiar, it's because it is. We saw it a few years back.

Remember that bllox that freeseatpete and co used to spout? "Bernie and Flav are top businessmen, they didn't get rich by overspending, they'll be going through the accounts with a fine toothed comb, they couldn't possibly risk their reputation if we were badly run...."

Same was said about the Mittals, and Paladini before them. And now Fernandes.

And yet somehow we're in the Championship with one of the country's highest wage bills. Something doesn't add up.

            hope so ginge.

until then, it is imperative that all those players we currently have on loan (remy, tarrabt, granero, diakite, salad and the two peices of shyte mbia and park need to be gone in the summer. there is about 400k per week in wages straight away. if we are lubered with them for another year the debt will get worse.

we had no luck in selling the farkers last summer. here is hoping for this summer.

on the reputation point, do you seriously think TF cares more about his "reputation" than he does hundreds of millions of pounds? Of course not. That's why he got rich running a budget airline.

You know what's worse for your reputation as a businessman than buying a football club which doesn't have the success you hoped, forcing you to cut your losses and put it into admin?

Not cutting your losses and continuing to pump 60m per year into a black hole.

there's going to be a long, long period of struggle for us - our main saving grace is that other teams will very probably be in the same boat.

In short, no the debt figure is not a problem. But almost every other financial figure released this week, I'm afraid, is something to be very much concerned about.

Thanks for having a clue how this all works and sharing it with us.

Everyone else here could do with reading both the posts I quoted. An accountant (I believe?) and someone who's just studied sports finance.

Or you could read David Conn, SportingIntelligence and all the other footy finance journos who have looked at this.

Or just believe Uncle Tone's PR tweets. That's definitely more reliable than legally binding accounts.

                          • ^ Interesting article, and truly shocking fact. To whet the appetite, here is an excerpt:

Queens Park Rangers had a higher wage bill last season than Champions League finalists Atlético Madrid, research by the Guardian has revealed.

Rangers' financial accounts for 2012-13 confirm the impression at Loftus Road that the club overspent for manager Mark Hughes and his replacement Harry Redknapp, in a vain effort to avoid relegation, producing a wage bill of £78m, 128% of the club's entire turnover. That culture of spending on wages, becoming steadily less prevalent at clubs across Europe, has been put into stark perspective by this season's remarkable achievement of Atlético, whose squad have reached the Champions League final on a wage bill significantly less than QPR's.
'Only a Ranger!' cried Gandalf. 'My dear Frodo, that is just what the Rangers are: the last remnant in the South of the great people, the Men of West London.' - Lord of the Rings, Book II, Chapter I - Many Meetings.
