  • What does "giving back our club" mean?

I keep reading that fans want Flavio to "give us our club back", but when did we the fans ever own it, or control it? And how would it work? Have you got the millions required to buy it back from Flavio, because I sure don't? And even if by some miracle we fans could buy it, how wd we take it forward? And just because we were back to being broke, would that somehow make us pure again, or are we now pretending that boardroom gun fights, drunken players killings themselves, brawls etc happened after the takeover? I too have a secret hope the Mittels might buy it and they might be slightly more sane, but does anyone have any firm indication that they would take us over and lead us to the promised land?
I'm not a defender of Flavio and have found some of his public utterances disgusting (eg his belief that somehow only rich people count), but I think some fans live in fantasy land. If you want to learn about a monster in football, read Tom Bower's biography of Mohamed Fayed, who owns Fulham and has done stuff that Flavio wouldn't even dream of (including, it is alleged, have people bumped off). Or the former dictator who owned Man City until recently. Or Abramovich with all the extraordinary deals that turned a Moscow market trader into one of the world's wealthiest men. Lower down the footballing food chain, the former chairman of Gillingham is apparently in prison for GBH.
I wish the fans did have more control and that clubs were seen as a central part of a community rather than just as loss making businesses or rich mens' vanity toys. But I'm also a fan saying to the board "come on chaps, buy Hooper, get a left back, lets splash out £2m on making Watson a permanent signing." We may want it all ways but we can't have it all ways.
Think we all need to calm down a bit. If we were top of the league there wouldn't be half this hysteria. But a combination of a p**s poor season, some dodgy decisions in the transfer market and a called off game has led to some laughable over-reaction.
Flavio hasn't even been given a chance at the hearing to defend himself yet -shouldn't we wait for that, or do we just hang him or flog him first and ask questions later? In other words, behave in precisely the hot headed manner which we often criticise him for doing. Blimey we are all grown up people on here, supposedly a bit more thoughtful than on most message boards - so plse, fellow Rs, get a grip plse...

Some of S****horpe and Blackpool's results would suggest that our start may not be as p**s poor as some have thought.

There's a LONG way to go.

It means we can go back to having 7,000 or 8,000 turn up, build a bit of team spirit, get someone in who works on no budget and gives the team a bit of passion and pride.

Hopefully, it leads to promotion in a lower league (ie Div 1 and Div 2) and this ridiculous notion of being a family club can come back. We haven't been a family club since the club had a family section in Ellerslie Road in the late eighties. Many of the fans craving for our "rangers back" were not even born,

Does make me feel old though:cry:

I should add, it means paying £18 instead of £20 in the bronze section and £20 instead of £25 in the silver section, but at least our rangers will be back.

i used to meet maybe a group of up to 40 in the white horse...now from them about 10 still come..
it used to be a laugh at qpt, even if we lost
              cheap matches
              cheap beer
              back to pub for karaoke
you wouldn't miss agame cos something alwayss happened

              NOW its too expensive
              so many don't come
the fun and laughs have completely gone..the few just get smashed drunk outside the bok, abusing any who pass by or comment...
              i hate the stewards
i hate how serious it has all got
              i hate the spin
              i hate ali russell
some die hards don't come after yrs!!
              families priced out

i accept qpr had their "element" but if you wanted into that..your choice if not, no one bothered you.

as for family club. qbp..we had family season tkts til our saviours came!! fact.

we are seen by many as ...1) hooligan club with history, nowty
              2) glory hunters
              3) family club, like watford etc...???

              answer that!

ALSO DAVE COX WANTS HIS RANGERS BACK AND ALWAYS HAS DONE...

I think the whole 'giving back our club' means we would be yo yo club between the CCC and League 1 without a hope in hells chance of getting promoted to the PL.

The fans are looking for a scapegoat and Flavios it, what our supporters need to be doing is having a closer look at their own attitudes in way they are supporting this club at present.

'We want our Rangers back', yeah so do I.....the Rangers who were Top London club that is.

See this is something i have also thought about.

                  What does it mean?

The togetherness feeling we had when we were poor? for me that seems to be the biggest issue i for one feel it.

IMO i expected changes eg a new badge, its all part of taking over failing businesses and turning them into profitable well run machines... From a business point of view the old way wasnt working so something new was needed to shake things up...

Theo paphtis is one of the most well known business men to turn buisnesses on there head and completely change there luck, ryman, and la senza being 2 of them... Rebranding is the word and thats what our owners have tried to do with QPR FC...

Unfortunatly Ryman and La senza and even F1 (ALBEIT ITS SPORT) are a whole different ball game to running a pro football club. Were being run in a way that doesnt excite your average football fan, because in truth the average football fan has nothing in common with our owners....

Our owners have done a very good job in pushing away your average loyal QPR fan. Some have been outpriced, some have had there dreams dashed, for some i get the feeling did whatever they say DID! want to do a chelsea and spend our way out the divsion...

Take a look at notts county there gonna storm there way up the divisions, qpr at present to many just dont look like doing that! Theres a massive cloud of dissapointment over us at present, a few good results would im sure help though!

Notts County fans now feel, how we did when Flavio first came in.

No guarantees and they could be jeering for Erikkson to leave this time next year, you just don't know.

Most of the LSA wanted him out.

One member went public in the press.
