And of course Mackie was totally useless for us, never scored when it mattered. Was utter shambles at home against Liverpool for instance which really killed off our first season in the PL.

      Oh well just my observation
As in he didn't feed Holliett, but the toilet..... In the dressing room. With respect, mate, I couldn't disagree with you more about Doyle. We were absolutely awful up front. And that includes Keane. I'm not even sure he was playing up front. I'd send back every one of our strikers in today's squad and recall and play Hitchcock.

Not going to get many goals from him much like Johnson

Does try hard but not good enough tbh

I thought we looked a lot better with Hoilett on the left and traore on the right. There was a lot of nice interplay around the box but we never really got much inside it.

Doyle is best as a second striker - to hold the ball up and feed the ball onto the the main front man. You won't see the best of Doyle until Charlie gets back, whenever that is.
At least Doyle tries, which is more than most of them.

A top two of Charlie and Doyle will ensure that opposition defences don't get time on the ball

                Also had an assist today
Excellent? Blimey I think you need to check the meaning of the word in a dictionary....

He was lucky with the 'assist' as it looked to me like he'd actually lost his footing and fallen over and the ball serendipitously fell at the feet of Jenas..... Very limited player Doyle and because he seems to put in some effort compared to most of his team mates fans take this for being somehow a good player or dare I say it an excellent one....!

In the system we played today, no striker would score. 90 % of the time he had his back to goal trying to control long punts upfield, or chasing long balls from the boot of Dunne!

still a player i rate and in the right system a proper 4 4 2 would score a few for us.

Ok excellent is a bit strong I agree but in a team that is lacking in confidence I was quite pleased with his performance today.

To be up front and just have balls blasted up front at you very few strikers are going to do much but I thought Doyle did well today.

Too many of our 'fans' expect us to have world class players in every position just because we have an owner who is prepared to put his hand in his pocket.

A reality check is needed imo

You say we were awful up front but then how many chances did our strikers miss today. Not many because we don't create. Doyle up front on his own aint going to create and score hatfuls of goals, if he was able to do that he wouldn't be playing for us he'd be in the prem.

Similar to what i was about to post. Yeah tries hard but Burnley have Ings, Leicester Vardy, Wigan Waghorn, Derby Bamford .....our main boy is sitting in the stand, we are this year's team that
have had no luck injuries wise, just the way it is

Faurlin, simpson, austen, Phillips. not one of the teams in the top 6 could cope with the loss of their top 4 players.

The harsh truth is HE IS NOT VERY GOOD. Very poor first touch and goes down very easy. But yes he try's very hard.

He does try, and wins a hell of a lot more headers than 6ft plus Zamora, although that's not hard.

Anyway, you're right about the injuries, 6 first team starters not available today, as Redknapp said.

Just have to hope we can keep going and scrape together a few wins to keep pace until some of them come back.
