  • Was QPR a one man dependent team?

So were they? 3 months ago members on this board used to laugh and joke that if Austin ever got injured then the goals would stop and we would miss out on promotion. So far his 16 goals pushed us up and beyond what a lot of us dreamt about this time last year, sadly that has come to and end and with no one else ever even coming close to his excellent goal record does beg the question, were QPR always a one man team for 2013/14? and how does this affect the rest of the squad given the circumstances?

my take on it Olly is we were playing poorly with Charlie in the side, but he was banging in the goals. Now we are still poor but haven't got anyone to score. Something desperately wrong for a supposed top Championship team putting in rank performances week in week out
I must away now, I can no longer tarry
This morning's tempest I have to cross
I must be guided without a stumble
Into the arms I love the most

So you think there could be something wrong with the team as a whole?

Is this QPR team still strong enough to compete?

        I'd say, yes.
Take away Charlie's goals, and where would we have been?

the football we've played and our position in the league are at odds with each other. Harry has to adopt a more attacking approach or I fear we will even miss out on the play-offs

            Agree.
Though, when you consider the way Rangers have treated our participation in the cups in recent times, I think the play-offs for us would just be a heartbreaking disappointment.

But Harry says when we play 442 attacking we tend to leave ourselves open.

Can anybody here see any potential player in this side coming close to Austin's goal scoring ratio?

Would Charlie stay if we didn't go up?

It wasn't laughing and joking mate at all. It was stating the bleeding obvious.

Sadly, those that are responsible, were too stupid to see it. Hence what is happening, is happening.

Is the squad strong enough as it is to win promotion? Robbie Savage on talk sport said that we still had a strong side and a strong bench, if we fail to gain promotion then questions have to be asked of Harry?

Yes, of course it is. But I doubt very much that it can now, due to the complete mis-management of it. Too much chopping and changing, so no settled team. Youngsters should have been coached in order that they could simply slot in and cover for any first choice player that got injured or needed resting. No obvious understanding from the players of any particular game plan, so doubt there is one.

Questions have needed to be asked of Harry for several months, based upon the total lack of flair and imagination. Boring, tedious football which was disguised only by the fact that we were in the top two or three of a very weak league for much of the season.

There is actually still plenty of time to turn things around, but I can't see it happening personally. The damage has been done and there doesn't seem to be any evidence at all of learning from mistake after mistake. That's why I would rather Harry go now. He's supposed to be the manager, supposed to be able to manage such situations. He failed miserably last season albeit under difficult circumstances and is doing so again. How much more damage can we afford to let him do?

                            Some very good points.

Tony Fernandes said that he has backed Harry all the way and did everything that was asked of him, meaning that Harry has to carry the can if it goes wrong in 2 months time.
Do you feel a little remorse for Harry though? remember his hands were tied wih Zamora, Johnson,Cesar, Diakte, Young, Barton, SWP all still on sky high wages which did stop him bringing in who he wanted as he was on a budget? hence why we only bought 1 striker in Austin?

I feel sorry for Harry as I don't like seeing good people getting stick and coming under pressure. He's too old for all that now, he should be enjoying himself. He clearly isn't and it's showing.

Think he could have made better use of SWP and in fairness, Barton has been good for us.

End of the day, he is under performing and has no reason to expect any different treatment than others who do so.

Just very sad and depressed about the whole thing mate. The wife was expecting a nice evening out when we play Brighton. Looks like she'll have to put up with me moaning, assuming I can be bothered any more.

Someone cheer me up for God's sake.
