Do you put any money into the club?
Do you ever buy a ticket or a pie or a programme?
If the chairman left and we dropped down the divisions and had to rely on gate reciepts to stay functioning, would you help us stay afloat or be a man on the laptop letting us die?
A supporter supports the club to keep it going, a fan watches on streams or the football league show.
Hope i have helped and answered your question.
    I certainly don't buy a pie....

              • Ugly but interesting debate rears its head again.

                Couple of scenarios kev:

A guy goes regularly but always buys his ticket from a tout but whilst in the stadium spends no money and doesn't buy anything from the club shop or a match day programme. He is there at the games so what category would he be in?

Second one - two fellas that never go but always watch on streams etc, one buys an item of low value from the club shop. Does this now mean he has the upper hand on the other and is ranked higher as a fan?

                • Can i also ask fella goes everyweek doesn't buy anything .....AND....and this is the important bit......just sl*gs off the players and moans all the time....Supporter? ...Cause surely there is such a thing as vocal support meaning encouragement not complaining??... Look forward to reply

                  • Still a supporter , just a gobby shite one. But he pays his money for a ticket and thats his right.
Oh and lol at touts at rangers every week.

What about the second scenario kev?

Relying on your ranking system here

Quick for instance, i like middlesex cricket club and follow their results, but have never been and never will go, so i couldnt ever class myself as a supporter . Same with england football team now actually, havent been since euro 98.
Fair enough mate but I'm still struggling a bit with your 'fan' definition, because surely any true fan would in some way, shape or form be spending money on the club. So in that sense I cant see any real difference between that and your 'supporter' definition. I mean how many real QPR fans would only watch an illegal stream and never actually spend anything in some other form?

                        • by the letter of the law, buying something cheap from the club shop still makes you a supporter nick mate. Cos if a thousand people that didnt go did that it could keep a small club going for another week or so.

                            Interesting.

It does raise the question, why does support apparently now just mean financial support?

But vocally damaging to player morale, which in turn can have a detrimental effect on performance, could lead to individual mistakes, that lead to goals against thus damaging to the club......Don't get that watching on line!!!

But does that rank them above a fella that is identical in his way of following the club but just doesn't spend the couple of quid in the club shop?
