  • Buzsaky and Vine on Loan

No agenda just a straightforward question:

When Buzsaky and Vine signed for us on loan they clearly impressed enough to be signed on permanent long term deals. If after their initial performances they had gone off the boil would you still have been glad that we signed them or would you be cursing that we gave them long term deals?

I ask because the debate around Helguson and Agyemang is that we shouldn't have given them such long deals now that we know they have failed for us but when a player is successful nobody questions the length of his contract. Before anyone says that I am sticking up for Paladini or have become a spokesperson for Pete please read by previous posts. I've argued previously about the imbalanced squad and the number of poor signings made but I do wonder why nobody questions the deals of players like Gorkss, Connolly, Routledge, Buzsaky, Cerny, Ramage etc. If these players had failed I bet people would be attacking Paladini for the lengths of contract given to them but because they haven't not a word is said.

the length of the deal is not the issue - the quality of the players is the main gripe

Certainly Buz and I think Vine (can't remember details sufficiently to be sure) were only loans in a narrow technical sense because permanent transfers were agreed at the same time. I agree with you about Paladini's overall transfer record and have often stated that he has indeed made some blinding signings. Even Agyman, who is clearly not good enough now, arguably did a v valuable job in scoring the crucial goals when we were staring relegation in the face.
However, if you listed all our loan signings over the last couple of years think you wd find they have been a lot less successful than the permanent signings. I can see the advantage of loans as its a clever way of getting quality players for free but many just haven't looked that committed or played as a team.

Well the solution is creating a formula to pay player per performance, but do not know how.
