Why buy players and spend money on wages when you've got a bunch of kids in an academy who earn less than £1k a week? The teams who don't currently have enough home grown players on their books all have academies. All of the big four have to have 8 home grown players in their Champions League Squad so they'll just use the same players rather than looking for talent from the lower leagues.

think the big clubs have been anticipating this for a while. even arsenal have a youth/ reserve side packed with english players. will be interested to see how many (if any) actually break into the side, or how many are simply shipped out to clubs like ours and then a new group are brought through the ranks at the Emirates etc to replace them.

Yeah Jamie is right. They have had to have played for their club for 3 years before their 21st Birthday regardless of nationality. With such a rule coming in it will be harder for us to sign young players from Premiership clubs.
