All this doom and gloom should be left until it is mathmatically certain we won't be promoted. We are in a decent position, not in good form but still very much in the mix. I hoped at the beginning of the season we would make the play-offs and get promoted at Wembley, still very much on track for that.
Winter blues, think positive, it'll happenI blew a lot on vodka and tonic, gambling and fags. Looking back, I think I overdid it on the tonic. - The one and only Stanley Bowles

I didn't expect us to be where we are as I thought it would take years to sort out the mess Hughes left behind but the games I have seen we haven't looked like a top 2 or 3 team and that either means we have been lucky or this division is crap.

QPR are still in a good position, but to be fair to those unhappy fans, some of the football QPR have played this season has been poor. Redknapp waited until transfer deadline day to address the lack of strikers (fit or good) before signing 4 on loan. He could have signed strikers on loan anytime between Sept & Dec or throughout January (including Doyle).
Some of his team selctions are baffling, including why he selcts Carroll (how many goals has he scored or created, and how many tackles does he win?). Diakite if given a chance might well have done a lot more than Carroll. Or how about given QPR youngsters a chance, Sutherland, Doughty, Petrasso etc.
QPR may be a 3rd on goal difference now, but by Saturday evening they could be 4-6 points behind and outside of the top 4. I wouldn't be surprised if they lose against Reading given that the games is once again being shown live on Sky (QPR have not won any of the last 5 televised matches - losing 3).
Redknapp has been bemoaning the lack of chances QPR create throught the season, yet these are his players and his tactics.
Having said all the above , I think QPR should stick with Redknapp for what's left of this season, but look toward bringing in a new younger manager with fresh ideas.

Reckon most here would have bitten your hand off if, at the start of the season you were told that in mid Feb we would be third on GD and still in with a real chance of auto. What do you reckon?

But many of us would have preferred a decent manager to one with outdated ideas or no ideas. Then we could have just proceeded to win the league with a minimum of fuss, just as all the bookies and pundits expected us to.
