Not sure if this subject have ever been discussed here. The quality of players that we have looks more comfortable when they play in a full size pitch. Certain players were brilliant before they joined us, however seems to loose some of their effectiveness when playing at Loftus Road. On may occasions one can watch long balls that are actually too long and ends behind the opposition goal. Even balls played to the wings, don't often are that effective. Compare our pitch to other larger pitches and the evidence is there to see. At Loftus Road, the football is more frantic, players do not have too much time on the ball because its easier to close your opponents on a smaller pitch. Our players that used to play regularly on larger pitches for other teams, seems to over kick the ball. Ok, one can argue that its the same for both teams, or that Rangers should do better playing away on full size pitches. But I watch so many useless balls that are too long and or never reach another R's player, that sometimes it makes you wonder.

For the record; our pitch is 112 x 72 yards, which is bigger than The Emirates (105m x 68m) & near enough the same size as Stamford Bridge (113 x 74 Yards). You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

A quick and easy way of measuring most pitches is to look at the big square grass mown blocks that you see at most grounds, more visible from TV. Generally there are three from the goal post line to the 18yd line where the penalty D is. This means each 'square' is 6yds wide. Count them width-wise and you will find 12 squares, which in our case means our pitch is 72 yds wide. Do the same for the length. A few problems over long balls lately have been caused by windy conditions.

Biggest pitches in England go City, Arsenal, United, And now Brighton. We're like 30th on that list. Same size pitch as scunthorpe."When you went to the corner and saw our fans celebrating the way they were you just wanted to be part of it" - Shaun Derry after we beat the scum 1-0

Even that aside, as W12 says, comical to even think that pitch size can be used as an excuse for professionals. You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
