End of the day if a bunch of lads want to pop into a black blouse, wave flags and set off the odd firework I'd buy that if it meant atmosphere. Anyone remember one of those? LR should be an in yer face, intimidating place to play. We should use it while we've still got it.

Not sure if this should be on this thread or the 'atmosphere' one but here goes -
There is a natural change in football crowd behaviour as the games evolves. I was brought up standing at matches where if you didn't win the prematch fight you out sung the opposing fans whatever the players performance or the result. I've brought my boys up in the sane way, sing your heart out whatever.
I'm old school but with all seater stadiums, family stands etc it is very difficult to reproduce the instant hostile/ singing atmosphere when the traditional style fans are split up around the ground mainly due to pricing. The old standing loft days were great you just rolled up on the day paid your money at the turnstile and sang til the final whistle. These days most of the time if you sing shout swear etc some busy body next to you or the row behind has a pop at you.
The q, p and r blocks do their best but you can't hear them from the away end, x block or a, c etc
All seater stadiums with so many price bands has killed the atmosphere at most grounds, but also the behaviour of fans has changed. Many new fans ( by this I mean 1990s onwards) have a different approach to match days , more if a family approach maybe so less hostile and less confrontational, which leads to a more subdued atmosphere.
Personally I enjoy away games better as most if not all fans sing, stand and generally give the opposition fans more stick.
Make the lower loft £20 all seats, pay on the day at the door, not from the box office, with st holders as well and put the family area in block F . All singers can then be in one area and the club can advertise this area as the place to go if you want to sing22nd February away v Charlton is the 40th Anniversary of my support of QPR and my first game. Away v Chelsea 3-3 23rd Feb 1974. 40 years of pure magic!!

Hello,
I'm new to the forum but just wanted add something to the conversation. I think it's a good issue that's been raised as I too have noticed the lack of atmosphere at games this season. One reason I think, and this has been touched upon, is the proximity of the away fans from vocal home fans. I've been sitting in X block for the last few games and will be there for Reading and Leeds. If we could get a more vocal core there, I think that could effect the atmosphere. I've also noticed empty seats, though not at the Leicester game and am not sure why people don't sit there. Regarding singing, I never feel confident enough to start a song, but I always join in. We don't have to be like the Holmesdale Fanatics or the Clapton Ultras (I think they're more political, might not catch on, who knows?) but hopefully something loud, aggressive and uniquely QPR.
