Following QPR all season Home and Away.

Not sure if this is classed as a bit of a personal question as you are asking a fan about there finances as such.
But, even attending just the Home Games must hit the bank balance hard with Train, Refreshments etc.
There are some fans that try not to miss a game all season.

I just wondered how much it does cost to do this all season, travelling around the country ?

Last season all 19 away games cost about £3400 and that included a few stop overs

Season ticket was £509 ( I think?) straight up, done 9 aways @ say £25 a pop, so that's about £735 odd on tickets alone.

£8 travel per home matchday, plus a few beers thrown into the equation you're looking at £50 or so. (Plus if you're into your pharmaceuticals this obviously bumps the price right up again).

Away days say £30 average train return / diesel split with driver. Usually do 5 or 6 a season staying over in the area afterwards for a night out looking at a further £100 or so for a bed & the night out so I'd say all in all not much change out of £2k really. Reckon to do the whole lot in a season without doing nights out n that, simply game & back would be about the same. Nearer £3k with a few nights out chucked in.

I would love to get down to LR more but find it really hard with 2 kids to provide for.
Its hard to find luxuries in life when family life costs so much.
Was single up till 5 years ago, but its hard to find money for myself to enjoy luxuries now!!!

Could say I work hard and play hard but I won't coz I know how hard it is these days. To be fair with me it's not the money it's the time I spend away from home, I'm one of the lucky ones who has a missus that doesn't cause a fuss. I am gonna knock it on the head a bit next season coz you realise Qpr dictates your life. I book holidays around international breaks etc and miss functions that usually I would want to go to but don't as I'm around the country somewhere.

Home games are fine as cost is covered in the ST, adding travel costs and sustenance is not that big of a deal as it is all factored into my annual expenditure - and we are a Rangers family so no issue about being away from the family.
Away days are a luxury not every one can afford. In terms of family, I take my lad to a fair few weekend games so the wife is happy that we are having father & son time - as for those games I go without him, well she accepts that I am entitled to me time and it's not a problem.
As for cost and justification - it is easy for me, at least until Sky start ******ing around like they have with the Derby game. That will be my first miss of the season and I'm not happy about it.
The reason it is easy for me is because I run my own business and have offices/hot desks and/or Client's located in all the major Cities in the Country.
I plan my working week according to the fixture list. Say we are playing Leeds away on a Saturday, then I arrange to work out of the York office on Friday, travel and stay at the "expense" of the business as it has various tax related benefits, go to the game and return either Saturday night or Sunday if I have Client's and/or friends to visit the following day. Same generally applies to mid week fixtures too. I can go to say Birmingham on Tuesday or Wednesday to work and then on to the match, hotel crash and be in the office by 8am the next day.
Yes, I am lucky in that regard and also have family spread across the North of England which often means I don't have to stay in hotels - kind of kill two birds with one stone if you like - it helps having an Uncle living in and supporting Donny Rovers for example.
However, don't be fooled, I have to work my backside off to keep a thriving business running as well as trip around with the R's.
I'm not sure how some others manage because there are plenty of people I see at away games all season long and I'm sure they are not all as fortunate as me in terms of work, finances and forgiving family.
The planning that goes into it is pretty smooth but that is why I get so miffed at Sky messing up the fixtures - before they moved Derby to Monday night I was sorted with a trip to Burton on the Friday - but have to be in Cheltenham all day Monday now

Very true webbie,all me mates are into football so no problems there.it's when Mrs vans family have weddings,partys etc I check the fixture list.they know me by now after 20 odd years with that loon that rangers do dictate where I'm gonna be

Home games cost me around £250 on average, worth every penny though. Leave 8am and down the Bush for 11am. Leave 9pm back to Chester for midnight then carry on. Proper days out.

I knocked my season ticket on the head this year as i just couldn't afford it after buying a house etc. I used to read on here how people couldn't afford it and think why not. Now i rather realise how ****** hard it is.

Only difference being the op didn't start a thread plucking a figure out of the air and telling the whole forum another poster spends that on a weekend, despite it being wildly inaccurate
