- Monsoon weather brought rush-hour chaos to the roads and trains as a month's rain fell in just a few hours.
- The Met Office issued a severe weather warning as a band of donwpours tipped more than two inches of rain on some areas.
- Queens Park Rangers Championship match against Crystal Palace in Shepherd's Bush was abandoned due to a waterlogged pitch.
- Up the road at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea struggled on the boggy turf to a narrow win against Porto in the Champions League with Nicolas Anelka scoring the only goal.
- All Tube trains between Turnham Green and Richmond and all Overground trains from South Acton to Richmond were cancelled.
- Flooding also closed Mansion House and Regent's Park Tube stations, while the railway between Teddington and Shepperton closed all evening.
- Traffic problems were reported on the A4, M4, A40, the North Circular and the Great North Way. The Met Office said 29mm of rain fell at the London Weather Centre in about six hours."

I left home at 4:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon. Picked up 3 pals in Oxford. Went to the Bengal Tandoori on the Uxbridge Road for a pre-match ruby.
Heard the game was off at 7:10 so went to watch the Manure game in O'Neils, then got a call from my Mrs at 10 to say she was in an ambulance on her way to Northampton Hospital A & E with my 2 y-o little girl with breathing difficulties.
90 mph all the way up the M40.
Panic over by the time I got there. waited 2 hours to see a doctor got home at 2 a.m.
What a night!!!!!!oldhoop
