I thought to myself on the way back home tonight, I bet they even moan about the game being called. I bet they blaming the club for this. Thanks for not letting me down. If I was to give some of you on here £100 you would moan it's all in tenners.

I work in White city and it hasn't stopped raining since noon today.

I'm not a grounds man but I would imagine that if we played on that pitch tonight it would have been ripped to bit and probably we would have to lay another one.
I believe that it’s the ref’s shout in calling off the game nothing to do with the club.

I traveled most of the way up from Fareham but I probably would have been late as the traffic was horrific. I was on the M25 near Heathrow when it came over the radio just after 7pm that the game was off. I managed to turn off and go back home saving driving another 30 mile round trip from that point. Still I drove 160 miles in total for nothing.

What concerns me is calling off a game at such a late point means that most people who were planning to go to the game had already left for the ground. I believe that it was raining most of the afternoon so surely someone could have put something on the website saying that the game might be in doubt????

                      Chelsea managed to play.

I thought we spent a small fortune on the pitch in the close season. More money well spent then.

They should have announced on the official that the game was under threat and that a pitch inspection was going to happen.

If what Scott says is true and they knew at about 6, why not tell us then?

Somebody on here phoned the box office and was told that the game was definitely going ahead.

                        Communication.

Most of us were lucky that we only wasted an hour or so..some wasted half their days and nights.

It aint the clubs fault it rained but it is that the pitch cant take it and it is that they never gave people a heads up

Do Chelsea have corrugated Roof where all rain water is collected and then all falls in one... place...?

Any "The game is in Doupt means nothing".. people would have still attempted to get to the game,

How about it was Unfortunate the game was called off so late... These things happen.

Scott it's not just the state of the pitch that has to be taken into consideration when the weather is as bad as it was yesterday. H&S in and around the stadium due to the wet conditions comes into account and considering our rickety tin hut isn't ultra modern i would wager there would be standing water in the stands and all round the concourse area. Then there is traffic, it took me an hour and a half to get back from chiswick to ealing yesterday because no ****er was moving. So there is a lot more to it than just a soggy pitch

if there had been a message on the offish saying about a pitch inspection then those travelling could have followed it on their phones or got someone they know to let them know what is going on - thus saving them travelling all the way there - they could turn back earlier.

poor communiction is what is annoying me. well, and the fact that our new pitch cant cope.

the excuse about the roof is false imo. we had the same roof last year, but a different pitch - and we had no problems.

so the problem is the pitch. not the roof.
